These guys are great. They fixed my fuel pump for less than half what the dealership was going to charge and carefully talked me through the whole thing. He showed me the manufacturer's price for the fuel pump and explained the estimated labor cost before starting repairs. Then he noticed that my fiance's car (which I'd driven in behind the tow truck) had failed DC inspection because of its brakes he offered to have a look and explained how the DC inspection process works for brakes. Exceedingly patient, calm and friendly. Not the most convenient geographically for me - but I'll go there again! This kind of service is worth a bit of a drive.

I went through three different auto mechanics in the DC area until I found Capitol Hill auto. They understand my desire to do only necessary repairs and will only bill me for things they fix. On one occassion, a mechanic spent over an hour trying to fix my window mechanism. When it was found that rust was the culprit and I needed to go to a body shop, they didn't charge me.

I never had actual work done by them because they were unable to identify the problem--I saw this as a GOOD thing because they didn't charge me for anything or try to rip me off with unnecessary repairs. They took my car in to look at it without an appointment, and looked at it promptly.

This place is amazing! I contacted this shop when my car died, simply because they are in my neighborhood. The mechanic offered to work on my car, but immediately referred me to another shop to save me unnecessary towing costs. When I was still couldn't pass the vehicle emissions test, I contacted this shop again. The mechanic was extremely patient and helpful. He helped me at absolutely no cost. The staff were extremely patient, respectful and explained things well. The mechanic also took it upon himself to contact the DMV regarding my vehicle and helped me get the waiver I needed to register my car. He even spoke to a parking enforcement officer on my behalf after I was ticketed for having expired tags!

I had a great experience at Capitol Hill Auto. They were communicative during the repair process and worked quickly. The resolved my issue completely the first time.

Phil and the folks at Capitol Hill Auto Service are great. They have never treated me like a dumb female and explain problems without talking down to you. When the sensor in my air bag went bad, Phil tried to save me money by finding a used part.
