This is a no frills kinda of place. You drop your car off in the AM and pick it up in PM. They will give you an estimate if you really want one but in general their philosophy is that you brought them the car to fix so they will fix it. At some point the gov't told them they neede to get signed estimates. So now when you pick your car up when it is fixed they hand you and extar sheet of paper to sign. It is the estimate for the work they have already done. This has allowed them to acheive a near 100% accuracy. They generally won't call when the car is ready since it is always ready then they saifd it would be when you dropped it off. They stand behind every thing they do and will always tell you if they can't fix something. Bottom Line is they are the anti-dealer they are all steak and no sizzle.

My husband and I both go here for all our repair and maintainance needs. They've always been up front and honest in their dealings with us. When we had a Mercury Capri they tinkered with it for hours like it was a special project and a challenge for them to figure it out - without charging for the "extra" man-hours to get the job done. You can tell they enjoy what they do and like to help people.

Unlike most repair places, I never feel like they're out to take me for my money when I go in there. They don't try to upsell on things that I don't need. Straight, honest and they stand behind what they do.

I met this shop thanks to the Car Talk app with GPS search. I called the closest shop and they were too busy to help me immediately and recommended that I take my care to Tires International. I needed something minor in terms of a repair, but HUGE in giving me the reliability that I desperately needed to get to work. I told them when I took the car in that I knew I had a huge oil leak, and had been told previously that I needed to replace my exhaust system. Between the repair and all the time they spent digging though my problems they spent about 40 minutes with the car yet only charged me $32 to replace my battery terminals. I was thrilled!!! [MAJOR POINTS!!!] They quoted me $600 for a very long list of things that needed to be done to repair my oil leak. They also gave me a quote for $600 for the exhaust system but recommended that I take it to Manchester Muffler instead because they could probably do it for half the cost. [MAJOR POINTS!!!} When I took the car in for the oil leak repairs I received a HUGE gift. Before I took the car in I called a friend who owns a shop in CA who they would have to charge at least twice that. I talked to a local acquaintance who works for a dealership who said his should would charge $2,200. [MAJOR POINTS!!!} I dropped the car off after hours and also picked it up after hours as I work on the other side of the state which makes my workday VERY long. Not only did they do everything on the original list they added three belts, one of which is $65 just on its own for the part. They did not charge me a single penny more than the original estimate. [MAJOR POINTS!!!} A previous reviewer mentioned no frills, and they are correct, but they relocated to a new location a few years ago and the new place is very nice. Not fancy by a long shot, but spacious and very clean. I later took my car to Manchester Muffler as they recommended and they quoted me $100 to fix the entire problem. [MAJOR POINTS!!!} I had them do the emergency component for $40 and will go back soon for the rest. [MAJOR POINTS!!!} They were PACKED, but helped me on the spot!!! I watched the owner Jeff make the repair and he showed me the pipe he uses that he bends in-house. My friend tells me that is the best pipe you can use for an exhaust system. [MAJOR POINTS!!!} AND... The very first thing out of his mouth when he got the car up on the lift was that the muffler would last me the life of the car; the first shop that wanted $700 told me I needed a new muffler. [MAJOR POINTS!!!} My previous mechanic, Strong's Automotive in South Windsor, CT is now just a distant nightmare. I will never take my are anywhere else unless they recommend them for specialty work that would cost me less elsewhere.

These guys are the best group of mechanics I've ever encountered. I've lived all over the New England region and traveled by car to numerous locations in the U.S. and have encountered all manner of mechanics, fair and foul. I'm a woman that has worked on her on vehicle for many things over the years and have plans of acquiring and restoring to pristine condition an old Land Rover Defender. I was tipped off to the shop through this site while they were still working at their original location on Broad St and they can work on anything with wheels. These guys & gals treat a person as if they are intelligent, whether or not the person has any experience with vehicle maintenance. They will explain things in whatever level of detail you want, give accurate estimates of time needed to get a job done, don't overcharge for parts or labor, and if they find other stuff that needs doing they will call to let you know. If the newly found issue involves a relatively inexpensive part, they will just do the fix and not add anything on to the bill. I have recommended these folks to all of my local area friends and family and have had many of them move their business to them. The current location is just off the highway and easily accessible via back roads as well as a bus line. They are just down the street from the back side of the Buckland Hills mall complex with plenty of options for food within a ten minute walk or a quick hop down the road on the bus. If you've arranged for it prior to dropping your car off and they aren't swamped, one of the employees might be willing to drop you off somewhere within a 5 minute radius.
