As a woman who owns a diesel truck, I felt that they treated me very well and all of the guys there seemed very honest. My best friend, who also owns a diesel, frequents this shop very often as well, and she is also a big fan.

I had this shop recommended by two friends. I took my 97 Honda Civic into the shop to replace our front and rear brakes and our CV joints. They called with the estimate and let us know about some additional problems we weren't aware of. When they told us the estimate, my critically-minded mechanical engineer husband thought it was a bit high. My husband then proceeded to call them three or four times for further clarification and for them to explain their part prices. They were very patient and understanding. The prices they quoted matched those on Napa's website exactly. We weren't being duped. We decided to have all the work done here in the interest of you get what you pay for. The work was done well, quickly and all of the staff were exceptionally friendly. As a female, I didn't feel that they talked down to me, or were disrespectful in any way. I have already recommended them to my friends.

I love Houska! I moved away a few years ago (a thousand miles away!), and actually "saved" all my repairs for my next trip to Fort Collins so they could work on it. Being a little girl with a big truck, they were very straight up and friendly, and definitely didn't give me the look down the nose that I get from every other mechanic when I roll up in my diesel. I wish I could have folded them up and brought them with me when I moved. I recommend them to everyone.

Spent 600-700 to get vapor lock problem fixed. Car was not fixed, it still vapor locked left my wife stranded. Got in a fender bender with the loaner car (no damage to loaner, only other drivers car). My insurance fought it out with houska's insurance, and houska's insurance paid claim. 8 months later owner of houska calls me and informs me I am under no legal obligation, but asks me to pay for damage because he has a crappy insurance policy and claims he has to pay out of pocket. I have a close friend who works at houska and fear owner will seek retribution on my friend, his employee. My friend is a great guy, owner is a jerk. BEWARE

Scheduling it terrible. I tried them three times, the scheduling was messed up each time. If you value your time, I would recommend going someplace different, they sure don’t value your time. The last time I went in (and I do mean the last time) I needed an alignment before taking a long road trip. I called to schedule the work, brought the car in the day before and heard nothing from them all day. I showed up at closing time to find out they had not done the alignment but had inspected the AC (also a part of the work order). I told them before and again that the alignment was the only think I had to have done. They said sorry, that will be $100 for us to tell you your AC doesn’t work well. When I asked why they had not done the alignment they said sorry, we won’t charge you the $100. Three weeks later I get a bill in the mail for the $100. It is hard to tell the difference between dishonesty and incompetence. Either way, I don’t want my car serviced by a place where I have to make the choice. Import Specialists on Laporte Ave does a good job.

Run, don't walk away from this company. When I conpared Houska price for a fuel pump repair with other shops in Fort Collins, Houska was hundreds of dollars more. Yes I have used Houska in the past and shame on me for going back. I do not know why AAA is associated with this shop? Do not believe AAA's suggestion to use them. There are musch better shops less than a mile away.

I usually shop around for mechanics any time I need a repair done to my car. The one time I did not was with Houska. They had supported a few charitable organizations I like and I wanted to support their business to thank them. They did some basic work on my car for somewhere between $200 and $400 (this was a few years ago, so I can't recall the exact price). I later found out another mechanic (who I like a lot) would have done the same work for less than half the price. This made me question Houska's pricing and legitimacy. Will not be going back.
