The shop specializes in the lost art of puzzling out the problems of old VWs.

Verner has always given me excellent service at a reasonable price. The VW dealer had lost interest in my old bug years ago. The atmosphere is friendly, fun, and funky. Like stepping back into the 60's.

Verner's Volkswagen is far and away the best shop I've ever worked with. Verner is extremely conscientious, very knowledgeable, very willing to explain problems, will suggest low-cost alternatives such as used parts, will throw in extra minor repairs for free, and clearly enjoys his job. He takes time to get to know his customers, and remembers them from visit to visit. He will advise you if the repair you are seeking is not wise or cost-efficient, even if that means he loses the work. For instance, we have a '73 bug that has seen better days, and he discouraged us from putting a few thousand dollars into it, because it made more sense to buy a newer used car. The only shortcomings are that he only works on Volkswagens, and because he is so good, it can take several days to get an appointment.

Verner and his mechanics are patient and thourough. I'm a big question asker, and they completely satisfy my curiosity every time; I always learn something about my cantankerous bus when i take it there for repair or diagnosis. They've seen it all, and they fix it right the first time.

Best prices, best service in Boulder. You have to plan a bit in advance to make an appointment, but they do great work!

I had a pleasant first experience at Verner's Automotive. Verner's replaced the timing belt and fuel filter on my older diesel Jetta. My invoice totaled slightly less than the estimate, and my car was done in a shorter period of time than was quoted. Verner kept me updated throughout the day as my car was being worked on, and he is approachable and easy to talk to.

Any time you own a vee-dub you need to find an alternative to the dealer, which for VW tend to be overpriced. Verner's is that place in Boulder, and we have used him several times over the past 2 1/2 years. Without Verner, there's no way we could keep our two VWs happy at a reasonable price. VWs are not particularly reliable cars and require special motor oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, etc. You should go to place that specializes in VWs. For us, that place is Verner's.
