Import Specialist is a family-owned business. They have been servicing my cars for many years -- once you find a mechanic you can trust, why would you go anywhere else. They always fix the problem the first time and they don't fix things unless they really need it. They will tell you about items that might be showing wear and will suggest a future time when you should have them re-checked. They treat every customer with utmost respect.

Import Specialists has been maintaining my '89 Tercel for over 10 years. Over that time, we've developed a personal relationship. All the mechanics know "Toy". Best things about them: they are honest. They did the 120,000 mile work on Toy. About 5,000 miles later I noticed it was leaking oil - one of the engine seals. They replaced the seal and only charged me for the parts - because, as they said, they should have done it when they replaced the timing belt, it was their fault, and they take care of their customers. Their records are impeccable. If a part needs to be replaced, they will replace it and tell me if/when it had been replaced last - and show me why it had to be replaced. And they don't own a boat!

I drive older cars and depend on Import Specialists to make sure my vehicles are in great shape. They'll take as much time as needed to explain what is happening, how they'll fix it, estimated costs and time. I agree with every positive comment in previous reviews and would recommend them to anyone, whether you are a first-timer with an emergency or a long term customer who knows the dogs by name. (Very well behaved dogs, of course.) They always go the extra mile--literally. No car ever leaves there without a test drive to make sure everything is working as it should be. After we moved a few years ago, I could have chosen a mechanic closer to home and more convenient, but I didn't. You find someone good who is looking out for your best interests and it's gold, you don't let go. A long term, biased customer and fan....

I've had several vehicles that they've worked on since 1994. Mostly Volkswagen but also Volvo and Toyota. It's a family owned business with both parents and brother and sister working there. They fixed the sunroof in our Volvo for free as a new baby present for us. In the past they have looked at or fixed a small problem in one of our vehicles at no charge. In terms of community, they donate to the Human Society to support several animals. They have 3 dogs that take turns hanging out in the shop area. They even looked at my aunt's Dodge van as a favor even though they only work on import cars. They really go the extra mile to satisfy customers and have quality workmanship to back it up. Their prices are reasonable given the work they do. They take the time to show the customer what they're talking about in the car itself, advise on what needs to be done right now or what can wait. Overall they are a superb garage.

They're located at 6519 Arapahoe in Boulder. They're a great all around shop that works on all kinds of imports. I have a syncro and they have a mechanic there that has been trained/certified on them. They are family owned and really know their stuff!

My daughter was on a roadtrip ALONE, picking up her boyfriend's Fiat bought on EBay. Using this mechanic made me confidence that she was not going to be ripped off. She appreciated having three options for what needed to be repaired. Some work could be put off til later. Her boyfriend emailed the following: "I do think the mechanic was very honest and easily could have taken advantage of the situation. I like car talk and I listen to it every week on the Internet. Finding this mechanic was definitely a big help." 1 comment on finding a mechanic on your website - I had to find out the zip code in Wyoming and Colorado before I could use your site. Thank goodness I managed to talk to a real person at the post office for that info.

We've been taking our various cars to Import Specialists for years. The shop is well run, the owners and employees are always courteous, and they're very good about letting me park my rusted out Toyota 4x4 outside their shop when we're shuttling our cars back and forth to them. They've always done a great job with all of our cars, whether they're brand new, or old and decrepit. And they are willing to take on anything ... from replacement of electric A/C, door and window controls, to custom fabrication of parts, and always with a smile.

I've taken my Nissan Pathfinder there for years. They are very honest and run a great shop. I had exhaust problems and instead of fixing it themselves and charging me, they recommended I take it to the dealer as it was covered under my warranty. They check everything out and only fix what's needed. It's not the cheapest place to take your car, but you know you will get honest service and won't pay for unnecessary repairs. I'll keep taking my Pathfinder back.

One day my wife, who drives a Jeep, had dropped her car off at the shop a few doors down from Import Specialists. As she was trying to get hold of me to come pick her up, Dick Hughes, Import Specialists owner, gave her a ride home without even knowing that she was married to one of his loyal customers. He did it because he and his entire family are sincerely nice, honest people who always treat others with care and respect. I have absolute faith in Import Specialists and recommend them without hesitation!
