Jim has taken care of my car for several years and two cars. When he heard that I was selling my lovely reliable Rabbit, he put me in contact with another client who had a lemon. He said that that way we would both be happy, and he wouldn't have to go on

Jim does a good job of explaining your options up front.

Great guys. They were the only shop within 20 miles who'd repair the sun roof cables. Been using them ever since.

Jim's skill at diagnosing strange & odd problems is exceptional. He provides first rate work an fair prices (apparently he doesn't make boat payments). His shop is spotless. Heckuva VW racer at Laguna Seca, too.

Phil is very easy to work with, and listens carefully, which is sometimes a problem with repair shops. While I wouldn't say his charges are bargain basement level, they certainly are more reasonable than the highly inflated charges of Volvo dealers and even some independent Volvo repair shops in this area. I highly recommend him to others. Although the shop is not located near public transit, he will give the customer a ride to locations in Burlingame, San Mateo and Foster City. He has a Web site at www.burlingameindependent.net.

Burlingame Independent Volvo, when the issue of my car needing a new Electronic Throttle Module, informed me that Volvo has a class action suit brewing against them over this part and that I should go to a dealership and demand that they install one under warranty. They also recommended for me to go to Smythe Volvo, on Capitol Expressway in San Jose, where I was given satisfaction and even a courtesy car. This was not the case with Pacific Coast Volvo in Santa Cruz, where they pooh poohed my complaint, and said the warranty had ended at 70K miles (mine has 91K) and who I will never go back to. If you guys have any clout with Corporate Volvo, you might explain to them how they are diasabusing themselves, by not standing by their Volvo owners unilaterally in this regard. Goodwill is worth soo much, and now that Volvo has been bought by Ford, it leaves me concerned whether Volvo is going to continue to be the good car it's been reputed to be. Also, I'm about to check back with Consumer Reports, which is where we checked before we bought the car. Had we known that this ETM part was causing a class action suit, we probably would not have purchased our Volvo. Thanks, you funny guys, and kudos to Smythe Volvo and Burlingame Independent Volvo and you two.. All the Best, Carol Shelton

Best service around...A smiling mechanic and a quickly repaired auto always equals a happy customer. And Phil does just that.

Best Volvo mechanic is these parts...bar none.

Phil's the best. He's honest, professional, fast, and does great work. He explains everything clearly and he makes passenger safety a priority. I drive 30 miles from home to his shop because his services are worth it. He'll even give me a ride to and from the train station if he has to keep my car overnight. Highly recommended. --A.
