When I bought my new car (which is now a 12-year-old), I started to take it to this shop. I quickly became a loyal customer, and I continue to be one. They do good work, are honest, smart, have reasonable prices, & do the job right the first time. I highly recommend them.

When my Capri was having intermittent ignition problems and wouldn't display them for the several days that I left it at the shop (fortunately, I have multiple cars so I could leave it there for as long as it took to find the problem), Don went the extra mile for me and decided to drive it home one evening. When it finally died, stranding him in a rough neighborhood at dusk, he was able to diagnose the problem and get me the new part I needed. The other option would have been to replace several very expensiv

I've been out of work for 8 months, & they were very fair about keeping down the costs to repair/replace my 1989 Nissan Pulsar's distributer.

I've been taking my cars to Don for almost 20 years. He's fixed a bad head gasket (the dealer botched the original fix), a gas leak that he found and showed me, rumblings in the front, as well as smog certificate maintenance and other things. For the rumbling, he showed me pictures in parts catalogs of what he thought was broken and then showed me the broken parts once he'd completed the repair. I found him when I lived nearby. Now I drive 20 miles to his shop. I think he does treat people differently but it's only in this way -- if you're not curious, he won't bother you with the details. But if you're curious, he'll tell you as much as you want to know without talking your ear off. I don't look forward to something going wrong with my car, but now I don't dread going to my mechanic to get it fixed.

I've been going to Park for about 20 years. They have always fixed problems that I've brought to them. I became a fan when , after spending a good half hour diagnosing a non problem, the refused to charge me.

We've been going to Don for the past 15 years and he has worked on our Sable, Mercury Mystique, Ford pickup and Toyota minivan and they have always done excellent work, for a very fair price. I can't say enough good things about him - he has an extremely dry sense of humor, but it's always a pleasure to deal with him and Dennis.

Don Armstrong and Dennis Allen are great. Their shop is about 1 1/2 blocks further down Park Boulevard from the Mercedes repair shop . They were recommended to me over a cup of coffee about 6 years ago. I brought them my old car in when it was dying, wondering whether it was worth doing anything to it, and they said don't bother . Then I had them look at a car I was planning to buy and they said "well it could use a new rear wiper blade". It was a really good deal. Bought that car in 2001. It's needed minimal attention since then. These guys describe your car problems and solutions in exactly the language that you need to hear to understand what's going on. They'll show you the parts and how they work. I'm a scientist, so I really appreciate it. They've never called to say they've screwed up, but they have called to recommend additional work. I trust these guys and take their advice. And they can tell you about additional work that you don't need yet or would rather live with for the time being, like my jamming ignition key lock. It's nearly $300 from Honda. They told me, it's up to me and they said that I might consider a locksmith. I might. It drives me crazy, but not $300 crazy. As far as their hours, well their everybody elses - 8 AM - 5 PM. Not particularly convenient for me. They may have their specialties or affiliations with professional organizations, I don't know. But they've been the best and I'm glad I found them, I was really surprised that they weren't listed here on Car Talk and I told them I would change that.

I've gone to this shop for over 20 years after another woman recommended it & I'm so glad she did. I cannot say enough good about Park Automotive as they are so helpful, truthful and capable. I had an old BMW & they took good care of it, as they did my Subaru and now my Toyota. They know what they are doing. Being female, they never ever talked down to me or tried to fool me as other mechanics have done. The work is always done quickly and done well for a decent price. I recommend them totally.
