Cesar is helpful and can't help but be honest. If he doesn't feel the work needs to get done, he'll strongly recomend holding off, or not doing it at all. He always calls around town for the best deal on parts and knows when to use the cheap stuff and when you need to buy them from the dealer. Everytime I get into a discussion with a friend who says he or she has the best mechanic in LA, it always turns out to be Cesar. He specializes in Japanese cars, but he's worked on my 99 SAAB with great results. If you need a good mechanic in Hollywood, your search is done!

My Subaru broke down while traveling through LA, and after my hometown mechanic made a cell-phone diagnosis of the engine noise and told me not to keep driving, I found Cezar's shop on the Car Talk recommendation list. Cezar and his "guys," as he affectionately calls them, didn't like the sound under the hood, and he prepared me for the worst possibilities. They all involved a lot of time and money. He painstakingly explained to me the whys and what fors, just being careful and thorough. Subarus are not his specialty. I told him to proceed with a compression test, the next step in the diagnosis, and the guys discovered that the noise had come from a spark plug electrode that had broken off and was rattling around in the cylinder. Again Cezar was careful, explaining that they hadn't recovered it and that it could cause more problems. I didn't have much choice and risked installing a new set of plugs and hitting the road (Cezar let me confer with my mechanic on his phone). Well, $63 later, I drove off in my purring Legacy, problem-free, all the way home. Cezar did me right.

I was new in town from San Diego and had a couple of bad experiences with my '01 BMW, but a friend highly recommended Cesar to me. Cesar and his son Jr (Cesar as well) were amazing at knowing what needed to be done, and what was unnecessary at the time. The were extremely understanding when it came to explaining what they were doing, and did a better job for less than the dealership. They are fair, and very nice people, and they'll probably even tell you about their last vacation if you ask.

They are simply amazing at what they do. They do it right and quick and they're extremely reliable. I had three or four people in my apt. building recommend me to their mechanic's, and it always ended up being Cesar.

I normally go with a cheaper mechanic in the area - he's honest, but frankly I doubt his competence (if not also his intelligence!). So for the stuff that really matters - brakes - I'm glad I went with Cesar.
