Jim Wilson is a great, honest guy. Our old mechanic moved to Colorado and recommended Jim, and we're really satisfied with him and his work.

There is no better mechanic in Flagstaff. Jim's shop is small, so there can occasionally be a wait to get your vehicle on his schedule. But his service, attention to detail, and bed-side manner are all first-rate.

Jim Wilson is the mechanic version of an old-timey family doctor who remembers everybody's birthdays and chides you gently when you need to be reminded not to forget about basic maintenance. My whole family takes their vehicles to Jim, in various states of disrepair- he always does a fantastic job figuring out what the problem is, and putting us back on the road. The neighborhood isn't great, but as long as the gates are still open, you can drop off a car after hours and it will be perfectly safe. You will definitely need a bike or a ride from a friend, but it's well worth going out of the way to know your car is in honest, capable hands.

The Best. In all respects. Jim Wilson is a good person and a great mechanic. Yes, I am loyal. He earned it many times over. LOVE him. Oh yeah, and he can dance.

I went to this place to fix a thorny problem, namely squirrely steering after new tires were installed on the rear wheels. This on a Vanagon Syncro, with complex suspension. Jim did a thorough alignment on his fancy machine, but the problem persisted. So we tried again, with slightly different settings. Then we put our heads together and decided to put the new tires on the front and to change the tire pressure, as an experiment. The problem now seems to be solved (I need to drive the car more)and the steering is way better than it was to begin with, owing to the alignment work. I was impressed that he used a torque wrench on the lug nuts after mounting the tires. This should always be done, but seldom is. Jim spent a lot of time on this car, but only charged me for the first visit. He is a pleasant and competent person, and everyone else in the shop is pleasant too. They want to do right by their customers, so i would certainly recommend the place to others. I do not know whether they provide a loaner to customers, but I do know that Jim drove me personally home, 9 miles one way, when he had to keep the car overnight. In case you should be interested, restaurants are about one block away at a nearby hotel.
