I have written about my regular mechanic, Lou Morin, before. He used to run Frank's Garage in Gray Maine. He has since set up his own shop. Lou continues to be my most trusted and faithful car repair technician. I have specified that he specializes in Hondas because he is a Honda certified mechanic from a previous job. However, Lou is very adept at most domestic and most foreign cars and trucks. He is very thorough with his work and I always leave his shop confident that he identified and fixed the correct problem or problems with my cars. Lou is one of the most personable and pleasant people I have ever met in the realm of mechanics.

Lou is the most honest mechanic I have ever met (unfortunately I have met a lot of them). And his prices are extremely reasonable. I would like to have given him a 10 on all the categories. He once refused to sell us a car that we were interested in because he thought something serious had developed in it after he had first shown us the car. He did sell us another car, and we have had very good luck with it. Lou is a very nice guy and always answers your questions or calls promptly and straightforwardly. He goes out of his way to try to get you a better deal by finding used parts if he feels it is appropriate. Lou is a certified Honda mechanic, but he has worked on our Subaru and a couple of American cars with his usual excellent service.

Lou is THE BEST MACANIC IN THE WORLD hands down, no questions asked... I have been to a lot before him... I have been going to him for 8 or 9 years and he know everything... My car now has 278,000 on it and I owe it mostly to his ability to do the job correct. And it a Honda... GOT CAR PROBLEMS? SEE LOU!!! HE WILL FIX U!!!

not only is Lou a perfect gentleman, his willingness to share his extensive knowledge is something I have never experienced at a garage before. My wife and I use Lou's for all our automotive advice and repairs.

I found Lou right here in the Mechan-X files. Glad I did. Lou is a great guy, very competent, honest and straightforward. If you're looking for a 'pass' on your state inspection, don't go to Lou's; he takes his responsibility in this area very seriously and you may get your sticker only after some repairs are made (to be fair, those repairs will be necessary and the price reasonable). Lou enjoys a mechanical challenge and has fun if you bring him an intriguing problem. He'll figure out the answer and, if a creative solution is called for, come up with one. There is a downside to doing business at Lou's. For whatever reason, he has chosen to be a solo operator - he has no help and apparently doesn't want any. He's also a very devoted family man who guards his time off jealously. And he's reasonably priced with a very loyal clientele. Bottom line: sometimes it seems easier to get an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon than it is to get one at Lou's. Two-week waits for appointments are common. Nor does he have any loaners, so Lou's is not a place to go when something goes suddenly wrong.

If you want an honest, competent mechanic, Lou is the person for you. Lou abides by the rule "If it's not broke don't fix it" If it is going to break, Lou will let you know how long that you have before you will need to make any necessary repairs. Lou has shown expertise with each of the cars that I have brought to him for repair (Dodge van, Toyota camry, Ford Explorer) With each visit, Lou has repaired the item below his estimate and I have never had to bring a vehicle back for a repeat repair. Finally, Lou is the type of mechanic who will take the time to explain an issue with your vehicle and show it to you if necessary.

I went to Lou's because I was looking for an honest mechanic. I was tired of going to a dealership paying high costs and then having someone behind a desk talk to me as if they were the one wrenching on my car. Lou wont fix anything that doesn't need fixing. When rating Lou's I couldn't put strongly agree because some of the questions do not apply to myself- treating women and admitting to not fixing something etc... But I am sure Lou treats everyone with the best respect such as myself- in fact I've never met Lou only spoken on the phone and he is very, very honest. I dropped of the past two years of repair records for Lou when he did my state inspection- Lou went over my car and noticed a bad part, he then went through the paper work and noticed my dealer had recently installed the part and then called me. Lou then spent several minutes explaining the warranty process of a dealership and how I should get a new part and installation for free! I highly recommend Lou for anyone in the area.
