The most reliable mechanic I have ever had. Your car will be ready when promised. No surprises. No nonsense.

I went to HANS thanks to your Mechanics "X-Files" and am completely happy! Hans didn't know he was listed here and was happy to hear it. They are no-nonsense and fast. I told him I think I needed to brake rotors on my S40 because they were grinding and making noise. At the end of the day, I didn't need them and he didn't try to sell them to me! I would have paid over a $1000 at the Volvo dealer, he did my brakes and 40K tune-up for around $300. It turns out a relative of mine has been using Hans for years for her volvo as well! I happened upon her in the waiting room.

Courteous efficient service. Always done on time, and fixed as expected. Reasonably priced. If you are a perfectionist and are trying to ‘restore' your car to museum condition, they may not see things your way. However, if you want to keep your car running w/o any hassle – they're your shop. They tend to be on the conservative side - and will talk you out of services they don't think you need. While most shops give you the long face and tell you that your whatchimadu is due for a change, they are likely to tell you can keep driving until the whatchimadu starts making noise. They will not take your money for needless work.

I have a 2006 Volvo S40 with 70,000 miles. I'd been blowing off getting service for the past 12,000 miles because I didn't want to take it to a dealer. I found Han's Auto in Reisterstown - I was able to find one favorable review about them on the web, but I wanted to know more, so I looked here. After I saw the favorable reviews here in the Mechanics Files, I gave Han's Auto a shot. They were able to take me the day after I called. I wanted two things done: 1) oil change 2) check out a popping noise emanating from one of the wheel wells. They called a few hours later and everything was done. They gave an explanation for the popping noise, but said I didn't need any work. They also recommended tires (which I already knew, but I'm glad they confirmed it) and that I need brakes relatively soon (which I suspected, but had no idea). The total cost was *very* reasonable. Thanks to Car Talk for providing this space, the Car Talk community for contributing and to Han's Auto for the good work! I will definitely go back to them.
