My chevrolet cavalier suddenly started overheating about 10 miles from from home on I-95. By the time we got it back, it was making scraping noises and all sorts of bad things were happening. I took it to Fox Cehvrolet who misdiagnosed the problem and charged me $400 for a worthless fix. Jerry's Garage (recommended here on cartalk.com) referred me to Gunpowder garage since I needed engine work. Gunpowder garage fixed the head, machined the cylinders, replaced the sparkplugs and serpentine belt, changed the oil, and drove it around pretty extensively for $1200 - about half of the price Fox tentatively suggested it would have cost. They were very nice, explained everything thoroughly, and were incredibly honest about the whole thing. For the first time I felt like I wasn't being taken advantage of in getting it fixed. I *highly* recommend them.

Jimmy and James run a great shop. They are straight forward, honest people who do good work. They only do what is needed and will tell you not to do work if it is not needed. Once they looked at my car for a funny noise and determined that no repair was needed, and didn't charge me anything. Find a dealer that will do that! Highly recommended.

We have gone to them for almost 20 years and trust them to do good work and to be honest about problems with our cars. Their charges are reasonable and they have always treated us very well. We would recommend them enthusiastically

I've taken two vehicles to Gunpowder for the past five years. I've followed them when they moved further away. I've never felt more comfortable with a service shop; every question answered, great service for me and my wife. I highly recommend them!

This is a family owned business that has been in operation for over 50 years. They work on all model cars and are very honest and very reasonably priced. We own a BMW Z3, Toyota Highlander and a Mini Cooper, and they keep all these cars in tip top running condition. They are like a 24 hr. emergency room when we call and ask why are car won't start they happily spend time on the phone and make a diagnosis or usually say " just have it towed in and we'll check it out." I highly recommend this garage for the high standards, reasonable pricing and friendly atmosphere. Tom and Ray, you have gone on many vacations with us. It's like you are in the car with us when we listen to your podcasts on every road trip. You're the best company because you give us lots of laughs and never ask " Are we there yet?" Keep us laughing. We love your show!
