I'm driving down the interstate at six am when my idiot lights start blinking, water temp goes through the top, and the front end starts smoking (well, steaming actually). Long story short, I nurse the car into a small auto repair shop in a strange town (what is an Oxon anyway?). I tell the guy what happened, he looks at it for about five minutes and diagnoses a broken water pump. Asks me how much longer I intend to keep the car. When I tell him less than three years, he says, "in that case I recommend a rebuilt We priced the difference and saved $50.00. Parts and labor estimate was $200. Actual cost is $199.56! He admits to me that when we were pricing the water pump, he forgot what size engine I had and was pricing 3.0 liter engines instead of a 3.8 liter which my car had. He says he worked out a deal with the parts supplier, so he can keep to his original estimate. I find his place of business by accident and am miles from where I need to be. He drives me to a metro station about two miles from his shop which gets me to anywhere in the DC area. I call at 4pm, the work is done, and he is willing to wait until I can get to the shop. His wife (who also works at the shop) picks me up at the metro stop and drives me to my car. Next to Tom and Ray, this is the most concrete example of an honest hardwoking auto repair professional I can find. If you guys don't fly him and his wife to Hawaii for a week, I'll be very disappointed (I'd do it myself, but I'm too cheap). Love your show. Keep up the fair work!

I brought my car to these guys based on a recommendation after the Geico-certified shop told me my car was totaled. It just had a lot of body damage and ran fine, and the Oxon Hill guys fixed it for well under half the price I was quoted at the other place (9500 vs 4600 is quite a difference). It was done when they said it would be and I was pleased with the work. It started making a weird noise a few days later, so I brought it back. They rode around in it with me and listened, then worked on it for about an hour. Told me a plastic bushing piece was cracked, and they'd replaced it. Amazingly, there was no charge for this work! These guys are honest, competent, and friendly. The neighborhood is a little ways out of town and I wouldn't wander around alone at 2 am, but it's fine during the day and I think they provide rides to the metro if you need to leave your car. Highly recommended.
