Independent shop co-owned by two Mini owners. Always terrific service for very reasonable prices. Regular maintenance, performance mods, etc...they take care of all of your needs. Never have had a problem myself, but I am sure they would go the extra mile to make things right if there were one.

In short, this shop was a revelation. Car loving, hard working, but laid back, friendly and honest mechanics who take time to get to the root of a problem and really want a happy customer behind the wheel. They charge less than your chain store mechanics or dealership, but do better work with better diagnostic skills. Also they have a grill if you want to hang out and cook some hotdogs or something. Plus they will call you and email you an estimate which for me is very convenient. I had been too 3 other shops for my '05 Legacy GT, a Subaru dealership, Monroe Auto and NTB. After being given all kinds of suspicious advice and estimates that continually ballooned in price and did not address the issue I was having, I finally went ahead and looked for good mechanics online. I found Greasy's on Yelp and brought it to them. I spoke to Pete who runs the shop. He is very well respected by the Massachusetts motoring club. He was very nice and listened to all my concerns. Later, he emailed and called me with an estimate and description of the problems. I had pulsating brakes which NTB and Monroe wanted to replace all 4 rotors and all 4 pads and to charge over 1k for. Pete said all I needed was new front rotors for 180. I had also been noticing a clunk when driving over a dip in the road. To me it sounded like classic endlinks were shot. Monroe said it was mounts on the struts which they replaced (in all honesty they needed replacing but were not clunking IMHO) , but after they did the job, still a clunk. Brought it to NTB who said It wasn't the endlinks or mounts, but that Monroe must have messed something up, and then added that I needed a control arm. I finally brought it to Greasy's, who said, guess what, it's the end links. I also had a broken window which Greasy's fixed, as well as the cabin air filter for half the price of the Subaru dealership. The Subaru dealership had told me all kinds of stories including the need to "diagnose" my malfunctioning windshield washer sprayers which they said would cost 150 bucks, I pointed out that it was likely due to it being empty. I won't get into the suspension and brake estimates they gave me, but let's just say they were equally insulting. Anyway, back to laid back, honest, and exceptionally skilled Greasy's. They worked hard on my car and it drives like it is brand new, brakes like a champ, and is dead silent without a rattle or clunk anywhere. Greasy's has my business from now on.
