After driving Saabs for many years I recently switched to a Subaru. My major regret about that decision is that I can no longer go to SMW for service. While I usually spoke to Gary, several of the mechanics worked on my car at one time or another and I was always pleased with the results. Saab repairs can be costly, but these guys did everything they could to keep the cost down. The garage is hard to find, so call first. It is possible to walk to the West Concord train station but you might also want to ask for a ride.

These guys are the best. I started with them when they were in Allston and I still drive to Concord so they can service my cars. I am on my third Volvo with them, the first was a 1985 740 Turbo that still hummed at 250,000 miles, original turbo and all engine components (when I got a new car I GAVE it to them!!!). I have called them when stuck at night, had something break just before a vacation, etc. They found and restored a 1973 1800ES for me and also work on my 2000 V70R wagon. There is nothing about a Volvo they don't know. Fair, friendly, etc., use them!

Gary and the team at Swedish Motor Works took great care of my Volvo wagon when I had it. They rescued me when I had poor work done by another shop. I went to them for five years. Volvos are expensive to maintain, but I ditto the other reviewer. They really worked to keep my costs down. The work was always excellent.

I have two Saabs. I always feel Gary gives the option to hold off on a repair when it an wait. Right by the Concord Maximum Security Prison so you can visit friends while your car is fixed. Great coffee and bread is available at the nearby Nashoba Bakery and Concord Tea Cakes. West Concord Commuter Line Stop also close.

Gary is the most professional mechanic I know. He is honest and takes time to explain the repairs that have been made. As others have indicated, he does only what needs to be done, and does it in a timely and cost-effective manner. I've taken both Saabs and Volvos to Swedish, and they have done a great job on both. If you live near the Concord area and drive a Saab or Volvo, I highly recommend this shop.

SWM has serviced two Saab 9000s for me over the last 12 years. My 1988 Saab was dealer-serviced for the first 70K miles (50K under warranty) and then serviced by SMW until it was totaled at 150K. While using dealer service, I thought that recommended maintenance costs were high and there were some continuing problems with clutch and brakes. All this changed after I switched to SMW. Gary and his crew fix things right and never recommend unneeded or premature maintenance. The cars have never let me down. Once I asked Gary to go over the car very carefully (at about 125K miles) before I started a long trip. This would be a license to steal for some shops; he did about $140 of work and all was well. My present car is a 1995 9000SE, serviced exclusively by SMW - except for initial warranty work, and still going strong at 205K.

I really love this shop! I need to buy a new car, and am considering another Volvo just 'cause I know these guys are so great. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car. My car is older, and they know what I want to spend money on and what I'd rather skip. I can't tell you how great they are!

We have used Swedish Motor Works for many years, first for our '90 240 Wagon which was still a baby when it met an unfortunate (but safe for the driver) end on a dark and stormy night, with 185K on it. They have gone the extra mile so many times - to find and fix subtle problems, to ease the cost of expensive repairs, to fit us in do to our poor planning, etc. that it is difficult to realize sometimes how very extraordinary that is. We recently acquired an almost new V70 to replace the 240 - and reaffirmed two things in the process: 1) we couldn't stand to part with Gary and Swedish Motor Works - that weighed almost as much as the protection afforded "in the end;" and, 2) though the dealer has been helpful in dealing with a few needed warranty repairs, they cannot compare to the care - of the car and the people who drive them - provided by Swedish Motor Works.

Done business with them for more than 10 years. Never a complaint, always satisfied with their work and their prices. They run a fine business.
