I'm reasonably competent under the hood but these days I just don't have the time to repair my owm car. Noone is more suspicious about mechanics than me. (I used to be one.) They have had several opportunities to screw me to the wall. When all evidence indicated that this could be a HUGE repair bill they've always taken the high road. For example, when I was convinced a valve job was necessary they solved the problem with a $2 can of Marvel Mystery Oil. When repairing a failed fuel pump they wasted days when the replacement part was also faulty. They ended up fixing the problem at an amazingly low price and they appologized for the delay. I've worked with mechanics that would have concocted fantastic stories of mutant fuel pumps, posessed injectors and unworthy negligent low octane purchasing owners. If they went public I'd buy their stock.

Rich is always very reasonable on prices and will tell you if you really need to fix something.
