Russ runs a one-man and one-bay repair shop. He is totally honest, though sometimes a bit on the expensive side. On the other hand, once he fixes something, it's fixed. There's no guesswork here. And if he doesn't think he can fix it, he tells you and recommends someone else; he doesn't try to learn on your vehicle. He advertises that he is accessible 24 hours a day. I've never called him in the middle of the night, but he has answered my calls outside of his regular business hours. And he's real good about finding ways to drop off your car before he opens up and for picking up your car after hours too. He's trustworthy and trusts you to pay him for his work too. I've used him for many years (though I have to admit I haven't used him recently 'cause I bought a long term maintenance service contract from the dealer for my current car, a Toyota, and nothing's gone wrong with it yet. I guarantee you though that I'll be at Russ' garage door if something does go wrong that needs work outside that contract. Oh yeah, he works on Nissans (and Datsuns before that) as well as Toyotas. Two thumbs up for Russ Baca.

My family has brought our cars to Russ for a number of years now and has always gotten solid, professional, quality service. He explains things well, is very responsive, and is also just a very nice guy. I don't know how his pricing compares to other places, since we don't get to other places, but I can say that I feel like we get plenty for the price, in well-maintained cars. As a one-man operation, he doesn't have the extended hours of a larger shop, and sometimes you might have to wait a few days to get your car in for an appointment, but he's been able to squeeze us in when we've had an emergency and arrange convenient drop-off and pick-ups after hours, and he's very accessible by phone.

I went to this shop after reading the reviews posted on the car talk mechanic files in my town. I had a fuel leak under my car(Honda Accord 1999). Russell looked at it and told me that it would cost between $1200-$2500 to fix, and it's not worth fixing because of the age of the car. He offered to sell me one of his older Toyota Camry 1999 for $3400, he also gave me the number of a junk yard. I paid him $20 for his time and left. When I left the garage I was approached by a gentleman that owned a second hand car shop right next to Russell's garage, and he offered to buy my car for $400, I think Russell must have told him about my car. I decided to go to a different repair shop(Country Automotive in Westhampton MA) and Wayne was able to fix my car for only $625. I'm glad I didn't listen to Russell. I don't think I'll ever go back to this garage, and I will definitely not recommend him to anyone. Sorry Russell, this might be a fluke or one off but I don't think I have confidence in your assessment.
