Art and his employees have always been extremely curteous and knowledgeable. He treats teenagers fairly ( he doesn't try to screw them on unnecessary work and yet teaches them some car stuff at the same time ). My 17 year old son bought an 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass ( his first car )that required extensive mechanical work and Art was very patient answering all his questions. He is well known in town for being honest and reliable and extremely knowledgeable. He is not a ripoff. His shop is friendly, clean, and organised.

Art's came highly recommended by several folks at my wife's new place of employment - everyone there takes their cars to Art. Our car suddenly began making a loud noise and it was popping out of fifth gear on the highway (*very* disconcerting). We could have ended up with a new transmission and been none the wiser (or stupider, depending on your perspective), but it turned out to be a broken exhaust pipe that smacked up against the shift linkage whenever you hit a big bump (of which there are many, many, many in the Boston area). Art also explained another problem we'd experienced with the car, and noted that it was a relatively simple fix involving about a hour's worth of labor (two other shops in MD where we moved from couldn't figure it out). Cheers to Art's! My only complaints (?) - (1) now I don't have a good enough reason to buy a new car, and (2) it can be pretty dang tough to get an appointment!

Art works on my 2002 Subaru Outback and my wife's 2001 Honda Civic. Very good communication. Good repairs and a fair price. Highly reccomend!

I think I can sum up this shop with one anecdote: I always used to do my own work. However, after my son was born I wanted a pro to make sure everything was up to snuff and the car was as safe as possible. Art's is near my house, and I took it there basically blind. I sucked it up, told him the situation and gave him the go ahead to look the entire car over. As most of you know, this is a scary thing to do, but as a brand new dad I decided to take the plunge. He checked the entire car out (6 years old- so it's not like it was in pristine shape) and replaced one oxygen … that's it. I gave the guy Carte Blanche, and he didn't even suggest any of the usual cr@p a lot of shops do. He told me x and y would need to done eventually, but that I could easily do it myself. The work is top notch, the service is friendly and maybe the most important thing of all… it's an honest shop.
