Ross is a great great asset to anyone who needs or wants to have things explained down to the smallest nut or bolt. He is very honest, never overcharges, and works for his customer in the best way possible. If a mistake is made or a problem is not solved, he is the first to cover the charge for any additional repairs if necessary. RPM is great!

Ross is, bar none, the best mechanic I have ever dealt with. He addresses my car by name (That's "Kermit", er, 'cause it's not easy being green), takes the time to walk me through any issues (and also takes the time to listen to my nitpicky issues and non-issues), lays out all the options for solving problems ("you could drive on like this for a year, or you could fix it with a used part or you could spend $xx for the new thing, here's what I recommend..."), etc. etc. I have recommended Ross to all of my friends (regardless of whether they drive a Saab), and all have been happy. He's fair and competent, and, as odd as it may sound, I really don't mind paying the big repair bills that are inevitable when you're driving a vintage Swede. An easy walk to the D Train on the Green Line in Chestnut Hill, and, just as important, there's a StarYucks one block away, so drop off your car, get your Java, and take the train to work. If you forgot to bring enough change, Ross will give you a mitful of quarters. (I recently sold my Saab and bought an Audi. Because I have a comprehensive warranty, I am servicing my car at a *ugh* dealership, but I will be certain to bring it to Ross when the warranty expires...)

The remarkable thing about Ross, besides being an excellent mechanic, is that he never seems to forget anyone's name. AMazing.

I found RPM here on the Mechanic Files when I bought my 2001 S60 last year. I've only taken the car to Ross a few times, but I was hooked the first time. My car was inspected by a dealer and I came in with a list of things they said were wrong, one of which, after inspection was apparently fine. It would be easy for a mechanic to take advantage of that and fix and charge me for it anyway, but he didn't. I also love that Ross is always the person who calls me back when I want to make an appointment and when my car is ready. And the fact that he's right on the Green Line is a major bonus because it means I can head right into work, and pick my car up on the way home. As long as RPM is around and I'm in Boston, I don't think I'll take my car anywhere else.

I selected RPM off of the Car Talk Mechanics File. I agree with the other reviewers' comments. I needed a front brake job and a trunk wiring harness repaired/replaced. Ross was personable, and helpful and the work was done on time at 30% less than the dealer quoted.

Ross (the owner) is the best. He is so honest and had taken wonerful care of my Saab and my husbands Toyota for years. I came to him to get a second opinion after the dealer said I need an expensive repair. Ross told my that it wasn't nessasary and that there were also cheaper alternatives. I have been going to Ross ever since. He is not only a good mechanic but has become an awesome friend and given me some great advice.

Ross has been working on our vehicles ever since he started the business. We've had him manage our fleet during those years in chronological order: Saab 900, Saab 9000, Chevy Suburban, Volvo v90, Saab 9-3, Saab 9-5. When I call him to make an appointment, he always knows what he did on our cars the last time they were in.

Ross is everything you could ask for in a mechanic - he is competent, professional, honest, and reasonably priced.

Wouldn't even think of going to anyone other than Ross! Just the best there is!
