You may have heard that southeast Louisiana is a bit messy right now. Baton Rouge, the state capital, increased in population more than 50% literally overnight because of all the problems in the New Orleans area. My daughter was in LSU med school in New Orleans. They have moved shop to Baton Rouge. She called me today saying she lost all power steering and that a red/brown liquid was pouring out from the front of the car. She wrestled it to a shop she had just passed. I told her to make sure the shop did no work without giving me an estimate and an explanation. They called about 1/2 hour later. High pressure hose on the power steering popped, $129 including tax, car would be ready in an hour. My daughter said they were respectful and friendly and explained the problem to her before calling me. Not only that but the mechanic told me to watch that hose because on a lot of Mustangs (this is a 2000) this hose tends to rub when the wheels are turned causing a thin spot. He did his best to arrange the hose better, but I should take a look at it every once in a while just in case. It's a small shop, but I was impressed by their no-nonsense attitude. They could have told me it was the entire rack, what could I do? I'm many miles away. I'm a happy customer.
