With a family and a few different vehicles of various ages and conditions from a to a '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a full size '86 Chevy Van and a Dodge minivan thrown in for good measure, Tony has been caring for us and our vehicles for many years. Through the Corvettes, Camaros, Blazers, Sunbirds, and an ill fated '76 Dodge Dart too, he and his people know their customers, and treat all of them with respect. Sadly for us, (not him he says) he just removed his gas tanks after 20 + years as a Texaco/Marathon dealer. Probably sent 2 dozen people to him over the years and every opinion that came back was as high as ours. An All-Star operation.

When we moved to Indianpolis from Boston 15 months ago we had three people independent of one another recommend this shop. The owner is straight with you. Nothing is done without your consent. The owner explains everything to you when you pick up the vehicle including a game plan for the future (we have vehicles with high mileage connected to the tuition rates of our kids in college!!) If something is not worth the money, they will indicate their ambivalence about doing it. They have lots of customers because they are competent, fairly priced, honest and nice people!!

Tyler Automotive has always treated me with respect (I am female) and kindness. I have often dropped my car off in the morning (they drove me to work), and then picked it up after work. When I had an emergency, and had to be towed to their shop, they worked on my car and fixed it that day. I've also run into times when my car (1991 Olds) needed several repairs, but I couldn't pay for it. They let me know the repairs that needed to be done now, and the ones that could wait. I also had some problems with the car before, they recommended a repair, and it didn't solve the problem. They took it back in and did some more work, and didn't charge me for the additional work even though I offered. They've also recently told me that I would be better off spending repair money on a new (used) car rather than the repair. I would have gone ahead with the repair had they advised it (replacing the gas tank and pump inside the tank). They've always been honest with me and I will continue to use them for my general automotive work as well as repairs.

Tylers is the best. Be sure to call for an appointment ahead of time. They are usually booked at least three weeks ahead of time. All of their mechanics know their business, but they also are incredibly polite. They take extra time with older people to answer questions and concerns. Tony Tyler is simply an honest man who runs a great business.

Always call before fixing the problem, notice when oil change is needed, polite, timely and work you in when it is important to get something done before a trip, etc. Good people all!

I took my 99 Ford Escort LX to Tyler Automotive because of the strong reviews I read here. My previous experiences with Midas and Firestone had been horendous and I was trying to find a better experience. Well I found it here. I booked an apointment to have my car looked at to diagnose the loud noise from the front wheels (I figured it was bearings). They had the problem diagnosed and a quote for me within 10 minutes and unlike Firestone decided that we could go ahead and just do the left front wheel first to see if that solved it rather than do both. I was quoted a time of 2 hours (I was expecting to have to bring it back another day as I had only requested on the phone to have it diagnosed, not repaired). An hour and a half later I was shown the old worn out bearing and advised that the right bearing was making noise but it was not so urgent to fix right away. I made a decision to have it replaced and was told another 2 hours... I brought the car in at 8.15 and was leaving at 11.20... I had another issue with a popping from the rack and pinion that I was told did not worry them in the slightest and that it was not something they would recomend paying the money for to fix... So overall I was very impressed with the level of honesty, service and friendliness (not to mention the $100 I saved over the Firestone quote) that I received from Tyler Automotive. I would heavily recomend Tyler to anyone... Oh and they gave me one of the bearings as a paperweight :)

The temptation to give Tyler a negative rating is there. Then he won't be too busy to take my vehicle next time. But I can't do it. This is a first class operation. A rare commodity! I could not be more satisfied with the work done, at a fair price.

Top notch service, I wish Tony would expand the operation so he could serve more customers.
