After a bad experience of taking my vehicle into another shop three times for the same problem, a friend recommended a place called WorldWideAuto. I gave them a call, and found out they only work on imports, and unfortunately mine was a domestic. I was about to hang-up and sulk away, but at the last second I asked if they had any recommendations, and without hesitation they replied "Carmichael Truck & Automotive... do you want the number?" Carmichael seems a little more expensive, but they fix it right the first time, which means not being triple charged and still broke-down like many other shops. (I don't even trust the dealerships anymore.) These guys and gals work on Commercial/City vehicles too, so it feels good knowing that I'm taking my vehicle to a place the City trusts to keep a school bus safe. They also have a guy whose sole job seems to be happily answering every concern I might have about the work that's being done, and what to expect with the overall health of my vehicle for years to come. I get misty-eyed just thinkin' about the relief of never having to look for another mechanic again.
