I have been going to M&A for about 9 years. They were recommended by the tow truck driver when my car died, and it was the best recommendation I've ever gotten. M&A is owned by a Russian guy named Alex Grazier. He's pretty gruff, but don't be scared off. It's a no-frills shop that seems to specialize in taxis, but they fix any kind of car and charge maybe a third of what I've been charged at big- name shops and a good 25% less than other neighborhood shops. On my '89 Escort and '94 Taurus they've done the brake linings, brake assemblies, exhaust system, coolant system, fuel pump, and numerous rattles, wobbles, and pings, and I've always been happy with the work. They're a little slow; I usually have to leave the car overnight. But if you have another car and can get by for a day, the savings is worth it.
