Specializes in Volvos. Very honest. Doesn't try to oversell what needs to be done -- will map out future service needs. Stands by his estimates of service costs.

Ken has always treated me fairly and with respect. His prices are good and he is a Volvo expert.

Ken is a GREAT guy! Treats everyone kindly and fairly. I totally trust him as an honest, knowledgable, friendly, approachable mechanic. He never condescends, no matter how naive a question may be. He provides a comfortable atmosphere to conduct business (i.e., no salacious calenders, or posters with weird jokes on them). He has even offered the use of his car so that I could get around for the 90 minutes or so that it would take to complete a repair. Highly, highly recommend going there for all your Volvo ailments or preventive maintenance.

I am considering buying another Volvo and moving back to Lake County, just so I would be able to take my vehicle to Ken. I was in college when he worked on my 240, and I learned what a good mechanic can be from working with him.

Ken does a terrific job on my Volvo. I'm impressed with his workmanship and skill as well as his business approach. He's always flexible for appointments, returns all parts when the job is completed, and completes jobs on time. Prices are reasonable, much better than the dealerships. I just trust the guy to do the right thing for my Volvo and my wallet.

Brought Ken my '84 Volvo with 162K miles and a host of minor problems. He repaired the needed items and went through the car to assess it's overall condition (very good, happily!) He didn't try to sell any unneeded work - in fact, when my sunroof mechanism broke, he found the needed part in his "old parts" box! Have had the car to him several times as it continues to age - always a positive experience. Ken is informative, professional and responsive, but friendly and laid-back at the same time - truly a great guy as well as expert mechanic.

Ken is my ideal type of mechanic, precise and honest. As long as I have my Volvo I will go to him. I am a mechanical engineer and if I ran a shop, I woould operate it like his. Point noted you could read his estimate clearly as though is was a engineering document!

Last time I had my car repaired, I discovered that Ken could lend me an older Volvo wagon for the day. Although it's not the most convenient location for me, it's worth it to go somewhere I feel I won't be overcharged or have unnecessary work done.

On a recommendation, we took our 89' Volvo 240 up to Ken. He *ONLY* works on Volvos. We live in Chicago and it's a bit of a chore getting to Lake Bluff, but it is so worth the effort. They will even pick you up and drop you off at the Lake Bluff Metra Train Station. I don't care if you live in Texas; it would be worth it to take your Volvo to Ken. Ken always shows me the parts that he has changed and asked if I would like to keep them (oil excepted of course ;>). He could have charged me $500 for a new radiator. Instead, $30 for a clog in my hose. He tells you what needs to be fixed and what can wait. And when something is fixed, it IS fixed. He'll put in used parts if you ask him and if they are available. Though we recently switched to a Toyota, we almost got another Volvo, just so we could bring it to him. He is one of the nicest guys and best mechanics out there. You Volvo owners out there know that they are prone to lots of nagging problems. Do yourself and your car a favor: GO TO KEN.
