call it fate, these guys were great. I got stranded on randolph while driving to work, and my clutch decides to give out. i saw the shop at the end of the block and walked in. they took me in right away and let me know exactly what ernt wrong. they even gave me a ride to my job in downtown. i got my car back in 2 days. I've got my new shop to take my cars. i highly recommend these guys. they even checked out other stuff i needed. they had all the right equipment. my 97 drives like new now. i've been to other shops with my bimmer, it just ends up being a guessing game with the others. the people at gateway know their stuff.

The mechanics at Gateway, Jim, Shadi, and Javier, are all very personal and friendly. Every time that I need work done on my cavalier, they explain in detail the problem, how it is to be fixed, and an estimated cost. They are incredibly fast with their service, and I can always expect a thorough job. They even note on my invoice other things that I may need to look out for with my car, such as low washer fluid or new air filter, never pressuring me to fix it right then, unless it is something potentially dangerous. The location is awesome too. Usually when I take my car down, I just stay in the area, getting a cup of coffee or checking out the boutiques. This shop is by far the best that I've encountered. The guys arent sleazy and vague like the ones I've met in the past, and their small staff makes it easy to be personable.

Jim was extremely nice and honest with me about my car. I thought I needed new brakes and expected to pay $300-$400 for them. He told me that the brakes looked fine and that I could get by for another 6000 miles before I need new ones. It was very refreshing to have someone be so honest.

I have taken my car to these guys twice and both times they were terrific--both times I was worried because the problem I was describing was vague and I wasn't sure exactly what was wrong. They found the problems and Jim explained them to me in detail. They also fixed an oil leak in my engine that another mechanic had told me he was hesitant to fix, for very little cost. They are friendly, good-humored and timely. I come all the way from the other side of town to use this mechanic!

I visited Gateway Auto based on the recommendations found on this site. I found the service to be prompt and friendly. The first time I visited them, they stayed open a half hour later to replace my battery. The second time I went I ended up having a mouse in my car! Jim had a good laugh about it, and was very forthright regarding went wrong and what was involved in repairs.

I took my Toyota 4Runner in to this shop because it is located a short walk from my home. The truck was absolutely a mess (in my opinion) -- the clutch wasn't functioning and it was basically undriveable. I had been stranded and forced to leave it several miles away because it kept stopping in traffic and I couldn't get the clutch to re-engage. Anyway, I took it to them and, despite the fact that they had to order the part, it was done in only a little more than 24 hours. I am completely satisfied with the job they did for me and my vehicle!
