Truthful, honest, hard working. He loves his job, and spends all of his time there. His shop is built on long term customers. He's not out for the fast dollar, and is thorough and upfront with explanations, work performed, suggested repairs and service. I have used Jerry for the past ten years, in which we've gone through a Nissan Sentra, Dodge Dakota, '97 Ford Expedition, and now we're on a '90 Volvo 244. We have numerous stories, but I think the following indicate his character and the underlying reason why he does what he does ... he likes to help people. He's a trusting soul. I had known him for perhaps a year and a half, when our Nissan's clutch was going. It was the week of Christmas, and the clutch finally went. He did the work, and told me to pay him after Christmas. No arguments, he said. Take the car, and come back with the money. The Dakota was dying fast. Something on the block or attached to the block had cracked. He explained to me the situation after an assessment. He suggested two options. A costly repair, which he was capable of doing, or a way to minimize the pressure buildup which would allow me to drive it to the dealership in order to salvage somesort of a trade in dollar. No charge. With apparent non-warranty stuff on the Expedition, I had Jerry do the work. On the repairs, he was always checking whether or not there was warranty coverage, or perhaps the problem was a recall issue from Ford. If so, then he would not do the work, tell me exactly how to explain the problem to the dealership, so that they would do the work, and send me there. Another time I cracked the side mirror off the Expedition. The replacement is near $250. As Jerry found out, the replacement does not come with the trim ring, and that's another $50 or so. He pried off the old trim ring from the damaged mirror, and glued it on the new one. He's always doing stuff like that. One more for the Ford. There was a terrible knock when turning left and/or right. Jerry explained it was from the lack of grease fittings/greasing mechanisms for all the related steering mechanisms. Ford had gone to a 'sealed' approach, eliminating the 'need' for greasing. Jerry, seeing this a lot, created a fix: mixes oil and wd-40 and nails all the boots and joints with the stuff. Worked like a charm. Charged me $25 for the service.

This shop is a gem. The owner is a very honest man who takes great pride in his shop and the work completed. They have been in the neighborhood for years and have built up quite a reputation and following. These days it's hard to find anyone who takes care in what they do. Here is the exception. They fixed and added parts to my SUV all in one day and I got a ride home from the owner while it was being worked on. Jerry obviously cares alot about his customers and that's why they keep coming back. A honest man is hard to find and Jerry is the real thing in the auto repair business. Very highly recommended.

They have been taking care of my cars for over 20 years. Jerry has to be the # 1 honest mechanic in chicago. And if you know chicago that says a lot.
