My son bought a 2000 Legacy Wagon from a private seller. We had the car worked on before our son left for college. After a week in his new locale, the car started leaking oil profusely. We thought the car needed a new oil separator. We got online and found Subaru Stuff Shop on the CarTalk website. We made an appointment for our son to bring the car into the shop. We purchased the oil separator for $20 and sent it to our son. Repaiirs were supposed to cost $350 because the transmission has to be dropped to install the oil separator. Our son had the car towed into the shop. Joe looked the car over and it turns out that the oil filter failed which caused the oil to leak out. Joe was honest and fair and the total bill was $21. Joe could have easily installed the oil separator and made a lot of money. We certainly appreciate his integrity and honesty.

I bought my first used car from them and it ran for another 150,000 miles until it was hit by another car and totalled. I have also had these guys fix my other subaru's and they are great and trustworthy.

I have been to this shop three times, all for work on a '98 Forester. One time they replaced the head gasket, the second time they replaced some wheel bearings, and the third time they diagnosed a problem that had previously been worked on by another shop. They did not charge me for the diagnosis, but showed me the problem and gave advice on how to approach the other shop for a warranty repair. The Subaru Stuff Shop is almost an hour drive from our home, but we go there because of the excellent service and fair pricing.
