I love the guys at Tandem and have taken my cars to them for over 20 years. They took care of my abysmal Chevy Citation for years, and then kept my Ford Taurus running much longer than it seemed possible. Now I take my Toyota RAV4 to them even though I bought it at a dealer in town. They are unfailingly polite, helpful, and concerned. They always explain what the problem is and what they recommend be done. I have never felt pressured to make any repair. They will tell me, "This should be done soon, but these can wait." As a woman, they treat me with respect -- even the time I brought in a car that was making a weird sound in back and they discovered there was an iron pipe rolling around in the trunk, they laughed WITH me, not AT me. When my Citation began to malfunction weekly, they told me they would be happy to look over any newer car I might be considering (their polite way of saying "Please put this car out of its misery!") and they even -- I know this sounds impossible -- started charging me only for parts, not labor, toward the end. More recently, I stopped in to find out what they would charge for the big 40,000 mile maintenance my dealer was urging me to undertake. The owner himself helped me out -- and remembered me even though I hardly ever need to stop in now that I have a decent car -- and gave me a line item estimate on everything, which included coupons for current specials. Their price, not surprisingly, was hundreds less than the dealer's. They also sell tires, and I have always felt confident with their recommendations. Just hanging out in their showroom or waiting room, listening to them (both the sales staff and the mechanics) interact with each other and with other customers, I can tell that they are just as helpful and courteous with others as they are with me. They are great!

I'm resubmitting because when I posted my initial comments, my answers to the survey didn't show up. I gave all of the items a 5!

Tandem Tire is great for tires AND car repair. They explain everything they did, and why they did it. They always call if something else is wrong BEFORE they do the work. I trust Tandem completely. They've helped keep my Corolla running and in good repair, now at 186,000 miles. Tandem Tire on Harrison Street gets 5 Stars in my book!
