I have a 94 Mitsu Diamante w/ 136K that I love, but I didn't have a mechanic I loved until I found Larry Johnson and Buckhead Auto Center at kudzu.com. His reviewers/ customers sounded not only happy with the work performed, but were also extremely loyal and longstanding. I needed brakes BADLY (had waited 100K's too long!), so I went to Larry's early w/out an appointment. Both the brake work (pads, rotors & a calipher) and the service charge were phenomenal. I priced the parts myself at a discount supplier and they alone would have cost me more than Larry's quote to me. And my car drives amazingly now that it has brakes! Who knew? So I went back again for its first ever tune-up after it developed a scary hesitation issue. Larry kept me informed and offered to take the car home himself over the weekend to check it out further as it wasn't sputtering with them (Murphy's Law)--so he did. When I picked it up Larry had stayed at the quoted price and he told me to bring it right back if it started acting up again. It didn't--the service again was just right. This shop is so honest and the service is so personal I really feel like I should pay them more than they charge. If Larry wasn't already married, I think I'd propose. (I did say I was a female, didn't I?!)

As I made calls to different repair shops to get estimates the owner of this shop answered the phone and gave me the estimate. I was pleasantly surprised. Although there were several technicians there it was primarily the owner that kept me abreast of what was happening with the car, although the technicians were just as friendly and informative. The personal attention from the owner is unusual and refreshing in today's society. It took longer to get the parts in than expected and when I was there much longer than expected the owner explained this was unusual and treated me to lunch. As the delay continued the owner and staff remained positive and provided me with transportation for the next day since my vehicle would be kept overnight. The owner was honest and communicated to me what was happening with the vehicle. If something went wrong they explained and made it right. I asked if I had oil leaks and it was explained to me that I had oil seepage and nothing that required immediate attention at this time. If they were dishonest this was an opportunity to convince me that I needed work which wasn't really necessary. I highly recommend the Larry Johnson's and will take my car back for great service and very competitive pricing.

Larry Johnson was very helpful when I needed to get my car fixed fast before driving a long distance. Most of my car was fixed (at a great price!) but the parts place sent the wrong part, so he needed to keep it for another day. Well that wouldn't work for me because I had to drive somewhere that night. So he fitted my car back with the original piece, made sure I knew it was safe to drive (which it was, I had no problems) and offered to finish the job with no extra charge whenever I was able to bring it back to him. He also explained why I needed certain things replaced well and was prompt in communicating what needed to be done.

I've been a Buckhead Auto Center customer for a while and have always found them to be very honest and trustworthy. (I first found them on cartalk.com!) They are knowledgeable and always make sure to be upfront and honest with me. I read many excellent online reviews about their company and decided to try them out about a year ago, and I haven't regretted that decision. I've even taken my car to other mechanics for a second opinion and was told that I needed the same service, so I know they're very honest. While I'll admit that they aren't the quickest place to get an oil change, I know that they do a great job and charge appropriately for the honest work. I think that their service on small work (like oil changes) is a little slower because they aren't a run by a huge chain--it seems like more of a family atmosphere with employees that give each car individual attention. That's the kind of mechanic I want working on my car!
