They wear surgicval gloves to work onyour car andtake them off prior to entering the vehicle. I recently asked that the left wiper be replaced. They cleaned it instead. Parts and labor guaranteed 1yr. Family operation that retains most of their customers. My 1989 760 turbo will continue to be maintained and driven by me since my car still performs like new. Why trade? Don't go in with the attitude they are going to rip you off.

Just bought a 97 Volvo 850 and needed some work done. I went to Mike's Automotive based on the recommendations of this site. I'm glad I did. Seems like a family run shop, and everyone there was very warm, knowledgeable and helpful. One of the mechanics examined my car for a while, then called me in to the garage and spent a long time showing me around under the hood (I had a lot of questions and he was very patient.) I'm not mechanically inclined but I plan on doing some of the simpler work myself. When I told him that, he actually showed me how to do many of the smaller jobs that needed to be done. He also did some of the quicker jobs that had to be done for free. Here's too much information: Had 3 main jobs done: BRAKES don't squeal anymore after they installed Volvo pads. DOOR Was opening too far and cracking. Replaced door arm. SPRING SEATS There was a crunching sound going over bumps and when turning hard. they replaced both "spring seats" - where the front wheel springs meet the frame. he said the struts were fine. Silent now, and it also seems to handle less like a boat. No charge for: - Diagnosed Check Engine Light and replaced a small valve . (The Check Engine Light was one of the big reasons I came in.) - Replaced bulb in center brake light on tailgate, which was causing another dash warning light when I braked. -Diagnosed the ABS warning light, taught me how to disconnect the ABS control unit to send it out for repair (a guy on the internet fixes them for a hundred bucks or so - otherwise costs several hundred to have new one installed.) -Replaced the oil cap gasket (old, so it was leaking oil.) -Said the coolant mixture was off and showed me how to drain and replace it (like I said, I'm a novice..) -Showed me how to lube important points near the wheels -I asked about Pollen Filters, and he showed me what parts to buy (needs adapter) and how to install them. -Showed me how to install an Air Guide (missing from most older Volvos, goes under front fender, protects engine from debris and water, directs air upwards into engine) when I told him I was going to order it from the internet. Also gave me a clip I was missing to install it. -Turned off the Service Light -After the repairs, took a test ride with me around the neighborhood to make sure I was happy with the everything. The 3 main repairs weren't cheap (labor is $80/hr) so I'm not saying it's charity work. But I'm confident about the repairs they did and I learned a lot about how to do the small stuff. I'll be back!

It is a relief to find an honest, competent and reasonably priced mechanic for a Volvo.

They are a family owned shop, but their problem now is getting the computers required to work on the newer Volvos.

Mike is the most honest mechanic I've ever encountered. He fixes what need to be done and if it doesn't he'll tell me rather than doing unnecessary work. I moved 1 1/2 hours away and still drive to have him work on my car. He is a rarity.

Mike's shop specializes in Volvo's. If they can't fix it - it isn't broken!
