They are very patient and kind, even when customers become irritating (hey, we all have our moments)!

This shop was recently purchased by Artie Baxley and his wife. I started using Artie for all of my car service over 15 years ago and I will not use anyone else. Over this time, I have followed him to 4 different shops as he went from mechanic to manager and now to owner. Prior to finding Artie, I always felt that every mechanic I tried was selling me more than I needed. Artie is the only serviceman that routinely tells what service I should have immediately AND what is coming up, but don't need yet. My experience previously was that other shops tried to "sell" me as much service as they could each visit. Artie is definitely the most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with. I have often gone to him pre-approving several hundred dollars, only to have him find a simple problem costing $40. He also takes care of any major or minor mechanical problems on my cars from transmissions to engines to air conditioning. If this shop has any weak point, I have not found them.

My entire family brings our vehicles here. They are wonderful. We all rave about Artie and Kathy and their family.

They diagnosed it was my internal controller for my transmission. I was told it was possible that once the failed part was replaced, it would tell him that there was yet something else wrong--he couldn't say until then. He was also cautious about whether the part would be available in time for me to pick up the car the next day. Without prior knowledge of this shop, I assumed I was being prepared for a call the next day with more bad news. As it turned out, I got a call at 11:00 a.m. the next day to come pick up the car, and so far, so good. I felt they were trying their best to be straightforward.

I initially found this mechanic thanks to the recommendation of a friend. Driving an Audi in a town without an Audi dealership, I was in search of a competent mechanic. Performance T&AC is a family-run business and in my opinion, the most honest and dependable mechanic in Gainesville. They have completed multiple repairs on my car, as well as on several of my friends' cars, and always with very positive results. Contrary to what the business name would imply, their expertise is not limited to transmission and AC work. Most importantly, they are honest and tell you when the job requires a specialist. The pricing is very fair, and the repairs are completed in a timely manner. Furthermore, they offer customers a ride home if necessary.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Convenient hours and great turnaround time. Things fixed right the first time, in all my experiences. Have worked on my Jeep Cherokee and Honda CR-V.
