I went to JR's Auto Clinic based off of the three other comments this shop has received. Given the fact that I have done my own timing belt changes, brake job (Disc and Drum), changing alternators, etc...I was looking for a shop to do this for me as my time has grown thin for such projects. I was looking for a reliable, trustworthy place, and I have found it. I had my power steering fluid, tranny fluid and oil and filter changed on my 2007 Toyota Corolla. The owner recommended not to change the brake fluid until 40,000.....instead of upselling me. I said if the fuel filter need changing, go for it. They inspected it and said I did not need to replace it yet. I dropped my car off and had my wife pick me up. When the car was done, they called me promptly, and I picked it up....car was clean inside and out. While I was in the waiting area I overheard a technician telling another customer that her brakes were safe and did not need changing right at the moment, that they would be more than sufficient to make it back to her hometown....instead of upselling her and telling her it needed to be taken care of right now. Honest shop. Honest people. Good attitude. These guys know there stuff from one gearhead to another.

My first experience with JR's: My son's car, a Honda, was cutting off during driving on Interstate and in town - with no warning. Son took car to two different machanics in Tampa got ripped off. To make a long story short son brought car do us (parents0. We loaned him a car. Took Honda to JR's from a referral. Had car for three weeks. Got Honda back: $350. On way to Tampa from Fort Myers on I- 75 for delivery to son. Car does same exact thing as before we took it to be fixed. Lip off I-75 to US41 - car dies - cannot get started. Call JR (33 miles away) on cell phone. Owner Don paid for tow truck and had the car for another three week. This time HE himself worked on and off. They test drove it to the place where they picked it up - worked famously. We got the car - PRICE - ZERO!!! He made a customer out of me forever! He is a TRUE honest mechanic and good guy!!!

Always delightful to go in and feel welcome. They do not treat you like you are an idiot...explain things clearly and discuss options...

They have worked on my Toyota Avalon twice in the past two years. Brake job last year and replaced timing belt this year. Both were competent and fairly priced. Don explained what was needed and what was not needed. He reminded me that it was a good idea to change the water pump at same time (for no extra labor cost) when the timing belt was changed. How many dealers would charge extra labor for than even though it is no more work as the pump needed to be removed anyway? They also flushed out the cooling system for no extra charge as it was really getting bad (still original fluid after 7 years!) Don is a real gentleman and runs a great shop.
