The only garage I trust with my Toyota truck. Labor is billed incrementally. Parts are reasonably priced - no price gouging like most other garages. They also take a proactive role in solving problems and preventing future problems.

I cannot say enough nice things about Jack Lyons' shop. They treated me well many years ago when I was a naive young woman who obviously knew nothing about cars and had not much money. And they treat my husband and me just as well now that we are more sophisticated and not so poor! Always incredibly polite and honest, great service and integrity is important to them and it shows in many loyal customers like me.

Jack and the other mechanics at his shop are a great resource. They are very service oriented and committed to customers. Jack himself will remember each customer and the particularities of their vehicles. Jack's shop can be a bit expensive for the big repairs, but I always felt that the oil changes and small repairs were worth it there because the car was getting a good checkup each time and things were being fixed before they turned into problems. Several times I was experiencing a symptom and Jack was able to fix the minor problem for less than $100. Twice members of my family had car troubles for which the car had to be towed in the middle of the night, and we towed the car to Lyons knowing they would be okay there and that Jack would fit the repair into his schedule the next day.

After calling a few service stations on the list, I decided to use Lyon's Gulf based on the surveys and comments in the Mechanic's File. Everything that people said about the service and Jack I found absolutely true. He helped me prioritize what needed to be done on the car and saved me a couple of hundred dollars on a 60,000 mile check up and installation of a knock sensor. A very friendly, polite and obviously competent place to have your car serviced. Even though it was very busy, everyone who came through was treated with respect. Thank you Jack and thanks to the Mechanics File!

I have been going to this shop for at least 8 years. They are great! One of my visits was for something that had them stumped (they worked on the car, and still were not able to resolve it to their satisfaction)... so they referred me to another local shop... not only that, they scheduled the appointment for me and brought my car there, too! (I didn't even ask them to do that!) If this doesn't show how honest, fair and kind these guys are, I don't know what does! Great shop! Extremely skilled team! Great people!

My husband's father started us going to 'Jack's Place' years ago! Dad is a well- known and beloved member of the clergy in the area (retired now) and just as Jack gave The Folks great service, now Jack's sons do the same. We take our cars to the dealer for major things, but it's great to bring over the car to Lyons and without a very long wait have a Lyons family member look at the car and fix a quick problem right then and there. (By the way, I'm pretty sure they don't know who my father-in-law is when we bring in the car, so we're certainly not getting special treatment.) If a part is needed or we'd have to leave the car, they give wonderful service within an extremely reasonable time - with a spot-on estimate. Unfortunately we recently moved 'across the river' (the CT) and are checking the postings here to help us find a mechanic's place on the same par as Lyons - if possible!

They replaced lower ball joints and timing belt (water pump and mic. belt that go along with replacing the timing belt). The quote they gave me was 400 short due to the fact that they left out the price for the ball joints. Took the garage 3 days to do the ball joints and timing belt. When the car was finally done (and before I drove away) I told the mechanic about the kick that I was feeling in the clutch and the sounds I was hearing. After inspecting the car he said it was fine and that the sounds and the kick would go away in a week or so. When the problems didn't go away I made an appointment which no one wrote down so I had to make another appointment. They finally fixed the problem, but they broke a heat shield on the exhaust and "may have forgotten to tighten a motor mount".
