I thing it is the single biggest piece of crap ever put on God's green earth. I bought the car for my wife. Now ex-wife. She left me the car. Soon.......very soon, I will buy a new car. I've had trade in quotes from dealers as high as 700 and as low as $300. 1972 Ford Pintos go for more money. |

I like it OK, but even though it's considered a "sportscar", it's not as "soupy" as I'd like- it's gutless going up hills. Also, it gets pretty bad mileage. Other than that, it hasn't given me many problems so far. (shhhh- it can hear me), and believe me, I've paid my dues in car problems. In the winter time about 3 years ago I forgot to put oil in it. The oil gage was next to empty. The light never came on, but ever since that day it has been really noisy before it warms up in the morning, i.e. idling loudly. When it warms up it goes away. PS I never use the air conditioning because if my husband found out he'd kill me. He thinks it's bad for the environment. |

My car and respect each other. However, I am on my 4th alternator in a 7 year old car, and GM won't take my calls on this matter. I have had 3 recalls and have had 2 completed, only when I absolutely have to be at the dealership with no way around it! Even though my car has given me fits, over all this little guy has been through hell and back. While I wish I had a truck, my car and I will be together untiul it just cannot go anymore. I love my baby Zoe. She is such a good car to me. I pushed for my rental units to get her when I was a senior in high school...I told them I would DIE if they got me the Prism (which was more expensive anyway) because another girl in my class just got one. I stuffed Zoe to the gills going back and forth to Ole Miss (U of Mississippi) but I could always see out the rear windshield. I used to get all sorts of things in her. Last year I even got a baby wading pool in there with no problem (it was for a friend with kids). She also kicks butt in gas milage for as old as she is. I just checked it today and it was hovering around 29 or 30 mpg even with a doughnut on it for 60 miles coming home last night. I also change the oil religiously and do the big things when I can afford it...like changing the timing belt last year. Her radio also kicks butt because she can always find Click & Clack! Thank You for your time. |

My car has been very, very reliable. I bought it initially because it was cool looking--my first car, I was 18. I've had it for 7 years (I bought it used), and it has proven to be of great value to me. Great gas mileage, never breaks down. It has 117,000 miles on it and is still running. I feel that it may be on the verge of costing me a lot of money soon so I am selling it for $500.00 (it has rust and a few dents) and I am buying a 1999 Ford Ranger. I guess I got tired of riding so low. Anyway, it has been a very good little "first" car. Right now, it has no heat/ac, the radiator leaks, the clutch may go out anytime now, and it almost overheated a few times this summer. So it's time for me to move on. It probably would've lasted longer had I paid a little more attention to it, but c'est la vie. |

Hey, my car was free, basically. My Dad "sold" it to me after I returned from the Peace Corps, penniless. Maybe he expects repayment, but with all the student loans I have acquired pursuing my MA, he has to get in line, buddy. The car, a red Geo Storm, doesn't much fit my personality. I mean, I am blond, but I most certainly am not dumb. The car did't fit my Dad either; I mean the guy is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs a pretty hefty 275 lbs. I'm not sure what was running through his head the day he bought that car. These days he travels in the oh so much more comfortable Volvo S-80. Yeah, he's really moved up in the world. I, on the other hand, will be driving the Geo until it falls apart. (See massive student loan repayment, above). But, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth (or any other type of horse, really), so I don't complain about the Geo; well, not too often or within hearing distance of Dad. The car has the stupidest window design in the world. When the sun is at the right or wrong angle, I can hardly see out the back window due to the reflection of anything in the back of the car. Makes road trips a real pain in the a**. Then the all black interior and the lack of air conditioning make summer days a bit like a trip to hell in a great big box made out of windows. Well, she gets me where I am going, most of the time and she has never left me stranded either, so despite her lack of culture and charm, the Geo ain't all that bad. Someday, though, I'm gonna graduate to a real car. |

The engine on this car has been very reliable and the maintainance has been quite acceptable. I have, however, been very disappointed with the interior construction, ride quality and appearance over time (paint, rust/wear spots, door fit...). I aquired custody of this car during a divorce, which obviously colors my opinion, but I would not have made it my first choice due to poor gas milage, overall safety rating and the above listed comp |

Having owned a Geo Storm for a couple of years, I would rate its reliability (as in does it start usually when you turn the key) as very good. However, I have had about $1,000 in repair work done on it in the past 5 months. The exhaust manifold on these things (in the words of one of the mechanics I used) "...comes cracked from the factory." I had it replaced in July 99, and it cracked in August. Now my car sounds like a sick stock car, and I can't drive with the windows down (or use the heat). What else? The timing belt system they use is ridiculous. It's on the same system as the water pump, so if you get your timing belt replaced, if the water pump goes out 40 miles later (yes, this happened to me), you have to get it replaced again. I swear I'm never going to buy another American car. If you think that's bad, you ought to see my Blazer. |

I bought the thing for $700 to get me around when I'm home from work(my job involves 90% travel) on weekends. It gets good mileage and I'm determined not to spend a penny on it other than oil, gas and insurance. If it makes it through May (when it's going up for sale, hopefully I'll get $700 for it again) I'll be satisfied. The guy I bought it from said the dealer told him it needed a new exhaust manifold and fuel injectors, so I put a bottle of injector cleaner in it and set the vents to recirculate. It works fine and my little sisters all think it's cool, but I wouldn't sell it to anyone I knew. Also, it has really cool little flippy headlights that make up for the lameness of driving a geo storm. It's a far cry from my college car a 78 Coupe DeVille, or my H.S. cars, a '73 Volkswagen Camper (bright orange) and a '75 AMC Matador(mostly rust) Thanks for asking! Tom Lehman |

I don't have any pictures of it, but I'll give you the best description I can. It is jet black & the windows are tinted. On the back In silver Italic lettering I have the words "Grease Lightning" and on the sides I have Two silver lightining bolts coming back from the hood. It is power everything, sunroof, keyless entry, keyless start, alarm system, and a stereo system from hell. The best part about it for all you people reading this that like this car by the sounds of it. IT'S FOR SALE! For only $9500 you can have this car. The car has been great. After 240k+ miles, it is time for it's first new clutch. The dealer fixed a minor transmission leak after seven tries. Other than normal wear, not much has been replaced: alternator and then brushes, water pump, cv boots, egr modulator valve, and struts. The car has idled a little rough since it was 2 years old, but it never died and runs like a sewing machine at any other rpm. Put people you hate and children under 12 months in the back seat, but that's ok, it leaves ample room for my 6'2" frame. I lucked out on this particular car, not the model neccasarily. It currently waits for it's first major anything, ie. the clutch. No smoke, no chug, no hard starting, and no loss of milage or power after 243,300 miles or 10 years. |

I have been really happy with my car. I paid not too much for it three years ago and I have not put much into it since then. It runs great--the only problem with it is the suspension (which I haven't bothered to fix because I figured it costs more than it's worth). The body looks great too, for a 10-year-old car (that is, when I wash it). I'm sad that a year after I got it I put a dent in it, which I also figured wasn't worth fixing. It is cute and holds a surprising amount of stuff. It has taught me that I must have a hatchback! It's a nice little car; too bad they don't make them anymore. |

I expect you guys at Cars.com to say my car is trash because I spent $1400 on a new suspension, as well as buying a new timing belt, alternator, water pump, radiator, and having an exhaust repair. But, after buying my car at $124,433 miles, and taking it up to 151,000 right now, I don't feel as if I've paid too much for my car. The person before me obviously did not do the routine maintenance or else I would not have had to replace so many parts. I only got my car for an extremely low undisclosed cost from a friend, and I take my car 200 miles through the Grapevine in California every weekend. The car sounds as if it's brand new, and for a 4-cylinder, 95-hp vehicle, it is extremely gutsy uphill, works hard, yet sounds smooth as a whistle. |

My car functions as a traveling companion -- I'm usually alone when I drive and though I work at home and don't commute anywhere, I frequently find myself taking long trips by myself. So my car has to be comfortable and built to my scale (and I'm a fairly small woman). It also needs to be reliable, but fun-to- drive. My GEO Storm is, frankly, cramped for full-sized people, but everything's in easy reach for me. It's got manual transmission, which keeps me awake when I'm driving and enough power that I feel safe on the highway. It also has a surprisingly great amount of cargo space. I had to relocate in a hurry a few years back. In addition to me and the cat, the Storm hauled my desktop computer (and the laptop), a component stereo, a full-sized table (with the legs detached), several suitcases and pillows, and the better part of an art collection at Interstate speeds for 1300 without complaint. I'm not looking forward to getting rid of it. |

I drive a bright yellow GEO Storm and I really like it. It's good for getting around town and road trips. It's perfect size for a hot single babe like myself. I've had to do very little pre. maint. on it and it's been a cheap, realiable car for me to drive. That's what I want and that's what I got. I wish the car had a cup holder because living in Portland, OR and being a coffee drinker I spill coffee all over my car every time some yo- yo pulls in front of me. I feel very satisfied with my choice at that time. Now that I'm "maturing" I'm feeling like joining everyone else here in Oregon and driving a Suburu Outback. This was my first car, and it's been a fun ride so far! It was a good fit for my needs at the time: I wanted it to be American (as possible), a hatchback, and affordable yet peppy (read: a cheap sports car). And I got it. My only complaints (about the car) are mostly minor ones: a plastic sounding squeak up front that shows up during the really cold days of winter (but only when the front end bounces up and down, like after going over a speed bump, no matter how slow). There's no _real_ back seat or much headroom so I'm limited to carting around only one short buddy at a time. The air conditioner takes a while to "warm up".. it's troublesome for my friends but it's alright with me 'cause I'm kinda cold blooded and love 80 degree weather. Which leads me to a major complaint: how easily heat builds up inside of it. I love owning a hatchback because you get these huge windows that let you see _everything_, but you get this major greenhouse effect and after my hard plastic ice scraper and several cassette tapes MELTED, I've made it a point to hunt for shady parking places and try to tuck away vulnerable stuff away. A shield for under the windshield is an absolute must because even with that, it's often impossible to touch the steering wheel without gloves during the hottest part of summer. I've just started a halfhearted hunt for replacement, and the funny thing is that my needs are almost the same as before: American (as possible), a hatchback, affordable yet peppy (but with more emphasis on the "peppy" than the "affordable" now). Unfortunately, the Geo Storm is no longer produced so I have to look elsewhere.. both the Ford Probe and Acura Integra look pretty yummy. My other major complaint has to do with the dealer.. Actually, with the salespeople employed by dealers. I could bitch for hours about car salepersons' poor attitudes towards female buyers (if a couple comes in to look at a car, why do ALL OF THEM ignore the woman and talk directly to the man, even if the car is "for her"? If she's by herself, why do they limit their conversation to SILLY STUFF like the damned COLOR? That Saturn ad where the gal says that the other car salespeople kept emphasizing the stupid vanity mirror was DEAD-ON! That's probably why Saturns are doing so well [even though they refuse to negotiate on the sales price, which is why I'm not interested in the SC2]. Unfortunately, at the other dealerships, the clue elevator still hasn't gone all the way to the top, so here it is in plain English: DEALERS, I'm an educated female with money to spend and an attitude, and I'm NOT unique. My "type" can spot someone PATRONIZING us in an instant.. and we'll take ourselves and our money to another dealer. THINK ABOUT IT!), but I've rambled long enough. (PS: About your second survey.. you may want to readjust "the amount spent on maintenance/repairs to the suspension in the last 12 months" of my answer. I took that literally [it did say "repairs"!] and put in the amount my insurance company paid to fix things after baby and I argued with a concrete barrier and lost.. otherwise it would have been $0. Second, what if I use two different franchises for "maintenance"? One franchise that I frequent is used for minor maintenance [oil changes, cooling system flush, etc.], Valvoline Instant Oil Change, which isn't listed in your survey. I use another franchise, Dobbs Tire & Auto, for more major maintenance [tune ups, brakes, new tires, state inspection, etc.] I left that particular answer blank.) |

Thank God my husbamd owns a 15 year old Wagoneer that runs most of the time or we would all have to go out in shifts. That's why I wouldn't buy it again, it is too small for my life now. Well, the fact that the beast has stayed alive for the length of time that it has, says one thing. I really like the way the car looks inside and out. I really liked the price when I bought it. It has held upvery well, considering I DO drive like your brother. ;-) The car is very rare on the roads of Houston, so I feel kind of special (not THAT special). Installing a car stereo was painless, the speakers I wanted fit right into the factory spots. However, the Bill Heard Cheverolet Dealership has been a nightmare. If you didn't buy a pick-up truck and wore plaid to work...you weren't sh*t to them, and being a college student, buying THEIR car (Japanese al beit) they wouldn't give me the time or day. Enough about them...(snort)...anyways! The car has been absolutely fabulous, and should keep on going until I buy my Ford Explorer Sport in May, when I graduate from college, with a degree in Radio/TV Production I might add. :-) But enough about me. I think you guys failed to put one question in the survey, what COLOR is your vehicle, color says a lot about a person. I love my Geo Storm. I live at Dupont Circle in Washington DC and use it for driving around town and occasional long trips (2 to Boston for business, my college reunion in Worcester) I chose it because it was at the time the sportiest model with the lowest insurance rating (9). It has since gone up to something astronomical. My insurance guy says this is because people love to steal it. I keep it garaged in my condo, so that's not a problem. But I have had to have body work done twice when it was hit and run while parked on a quiet neighborhood street both times apparently by a UTE or Jeep of some sort judging by the location of the impact. Last time was just behind the drivers door in front of the gas cap door. Weird. I knew when I bought it that there was no headroom in the back. I mostly drive one other adult so its not much of a problem. It is really uncomfortable for an average size adult to sit it the back seat. My low mileage comes from using the metro to and from work. It is mostly a weekend car. I think you guys are great! |

Although you may snicker or laugh openly, my last car was an 1989 Hyundia Sonota GLS, and therein lies the problem with my Storm GSi. Compared to the Hyndai's roomy interior and $4000 option package the Storm feels cramped and featureless (having only AC and Airbag (and a $2,000 Stereo! :) ) And while the Storm handles superbly, I can't shake the image of a 17yr old holligan as I galavant about town (Im 26 but look 17). Sufice to say image has something to do with it. I feel silly getting out of the Storm wearing a Suit+Tie setup whereas the Hyundai's fleeting similairity to a Mercedes would often bring frowns of jealousy from people older and -er poorer. Yes, I like my car. It has been reliable, and its a fun little machine. Somehow the insurance company thinks its a high risk though. Probably because of those damned SUV's rolling around like tanks out there. |

My Storm, the twin cam GSI, has good power & handeling & is pretty good in the snow. It's a lot quicker than the single cam version. All storms here in Michigan tend to get rusty at the back of the rear wheel arch, & mine is developing problems in this area. I have won 2 regional SCCA Solo 2 championships in my class with this car. It has been very reliable for me. At highway speed the car is rather noisy inside, & the speedometer reads several MPH too high. Overall I'm very pleased with it. I previously had a pretty good 89 Pontiac Bonniville, that was a good car but I just could not stand the thought of driving that tank any more so I traded it on the Storm & have not regretted it. |

it's quite the ride...it's got lots of pickup and corners great...and the sound system bumps! just about the only thing I have to complain about is the high vibration engine...I've gone through one exhaust manifold and two pipes hooking directly up to the manifold (they are solid, not flex)...I guess it's really not a well designed car, but I lIke it! |

I have a 1991 Geo Storm 5 speed red, w/ gray interior. It is actually a very peppy little car that is comfortable to drive (I'm only 5'1"), has mostly well-placed controls, looks good and gets a lot of flirtatious attention from male drivers. (part me, part sports car that looks like an eclipse.) It is a little too light, not great in snow and has a terrible sound system. The biggest incovenience is that there is no cup holder and the door panel is too wide to accommodate a hanging cupholder--which is wildly inexcusable design in the estimation of this road warrior. The whole car started to fall apart at 60k miles ncluding the heater core, radiator and head gasket, brakes and muffler. This is with extensive city & highway diving, but preventive maintenance. It is probably best for a new driver, or just around town. |

It's a good economical car, problem area-exhaust system (get a lifetime muffler or wish you had). I like the hatchback area and use it all the time. Tall people look funny inside it. It's not a comfortable ride but it does the trick. Wish it had intermittent for wipers. |

It is a surprise that I like my Storm as much as I do, 'cause all I wanted and drove in the past were V8's. It's been a great car, no major mech. problems at all, except for the CV joints voing out. The roads here in Waterbury are really pathetic. I'm lucky the little car didn't break in half, but then again, that should have happened when my brother took it 4 wheeling in the Nevada desert. It's a native California car, and it definitely liked California better. These people in the East say Californians are flakes and fools, but at at least those flakes and fools stop at red lights. If there were only 2 drivers in Connecticut, they would be tailgating each other doing 90 in a snowstorm. Love your show. I actually know some other people from Connecticut that listen to you guys as well. Obviously they were from somewhere else before they moved here. Craig |

I have to honestly say I have no complaints. The repairs on the car are all due to the damage I have done. My little Geo has taken one hell of a beating and it still runs like a champ. Granted I payed way too much when I bought it, but I had to have this car. I've taken my Geo off roading, camping, braffing, curb jumping, and ditch diving and I am still driving it. I highly recomend this vehicle to anyone who is as hard on cars as I am. |

I love my Storm! It's a GSi model, and I have no problem smoking Honda CRXs Si at the strip. Easiest car to smoke at the strip if you ask me. Not even the modified CRXs can catch me. I even toasted a Civic Si crusing at 80, I nailed the hammer, and I was at 130 MPH pulling nice and strong! My car has been modified, but I have not spent more than $5,000 dollars (including car). At the track, it will run 15.3s all night long. My friend also has a GSi, but has done more work such as ported head and some other goodies. He is clocking in at 14.8s! A GEO running 14s,who would have thought! Just wait till I drop in my turbo powered GEO engine I'm building. Hello 12s here I come! |

I bought my Storm from a guy who fixes and resells "totalled" cars for about $3,000. (It had about 15,000 miles on it.) The Storm was a terrific little car--cheap to operate, fun to drive, and so aerodynamic that bugs almost never met their maker on my windshield. I wish Geo still made them so I could get a newer one. |

I really like my car. It is very reliable as well as quick. The only things that need routine repairs are the brakes and suspension parts. The re-sale value is very low, though. And don't expect to actually use the back seat. |

I love my car! It was the first and only car I bought on my own. We will trade/sell it soon for a new larger car - that would be my only complaint, it is very small. We have only done the basic maintenence (oil changes, tune ups, timing belt, etc.)and have really had only one fix that was "major" ($300 - big deal). I have had people bad mouth the car, they obviously had no idea what they were talking about. I will miss the car when it is gone (I will in fact cry). |

I have probably spent more time in my car in the last 4 years than in any one home over the same period. I was not exited about the prospect of buying a Geo at first, but over the years there have been several features that I have come to love about my car. It gets great gas mileage, suprisingly good performance, and good reliability. It is this last that is the most suprising to me. I have been hard on my car, not just occasionally, but on a fairly regular basis, yet I have never had any real maintenance problems. All the work that I have had done on my car has been upgrades or general maintenance. Never has anything broken or failed on me. |

It is fun to drive, is very reliable and gets great mileage despite my heavy foot. The back seat is almost a back seat. The only part of owning and driving the Geo Storm is that the clear coat is coming off in the North Carolina sun. Looks like it has some disease, but it is self limiting once all the clear coat which is now foggy coat flaakes off as it usually does once I hit about 90 mph. If I had my druthers, it would have an exhaust system more like my old Fiat. Love the sound of those little Italian cars! |

I really love My yellow geo storm GSi....It does have some problems......when the timing belt was replaced at 74k, the place I took it to replaced it wrong, and the engine seized...had to wait for an engine replacement like a person waiting to a heart donor..since then it's never been the same. I bought it used, and the same day i bought it, it broke down on me...I'm constantly replacing things in it.....belts, the starter, tires, transmission fluid, brake pads..I'm learning a lot fast. But its my first car, My freedom, so I love it anyway. Automatic transmission sucks.....i hate how its shifting is so choppy, but thats really only when i have a lead foot. I've put a sony CD player-am/fm radio, and fosgate speakers to replace the factory stuff, and its loaded so its got everything i want (except Cruise control). but I can't put anyone in the back without complaints, and my friends have dubbed it the Bumblebee. In the spring i'll be painting it silver with a Superwing, and i'm adding rims to it this month. Overall I really do love the car, its got a personality, its tempermental, and noisy, just like me...I hope to keep it alive as long as possible, cuz i can't find any car that is as cute! :) |

For the most part, I have been quite happy with my Geo Storm. The only strong complaint I would have regards the temperature controls. They are not lighted, and extremely difficult to read at night or even in low light. On the minor side: the interior is not very attractive, although from the outside I think it is a pretty little car. The ride is a little rough, and it is difficult to shift smoothly. On the other hand, the price was very good. The acceleration is really good, which is very much one of its best features for me. If I had to do it again, I would probably get it or something like it. |

I am an aircraft mechanic... I don't enjoy working on cars..but I also hate to pay someone else to do somthing that I can do for myself....( some sort of independence hangup I guess)Anyway I haven't bought a new car (brand new) since 1982. I usually buy something (something halfway decent looking) at auction that looks in good shape and drive it for 4 or 5 yrs.....I probably spend less than average on transportation than most......But then aviation mechanics are not the best paid folks on the planet...( think about that during our next takeoff roll).............I am an older mechanic...not wanting to change careers at this point...but I would not recommend the trade to any youngsters....besides smart young folks are getting into computers..(or should be) Anyway enough blather....seeya BYE |

My only real complaint about the Storm is its clearance. I had running problems with the manifold and exhaust pipe because they kept getting smacked by the road on bumps and dips. Also lost a plastic piece along the front under the radiator which helps with the cooling that way. Other than this, I think the car is a truly kicky ride which seems to suit my independent style fairly well. (I move around in traffic a lot.) Thanks for the forum! |
