I like the styling of the 1978 AMC concord 2 door sedan. That dammed suburban took a whack at it... and it still drives good. (I put the AMC in front of the suburban The accident was my fault. I want cup holders.) The doors and electrical system are pretty junky... my dad hasn't helped that out by sloppily rewiring it though... We have 3 AMC's in our back yard. 2 are automatic station wagons of the same year as the stick sedan that I am writing about. The engine is so easy to work on! We have our own AMC junk yard! I would like to try to put the eagle drive system into our sedan.

Bought in 97 for $700, put about $1400 into repairs. Driven about 30,000 miles since, no major mechanical problems. Easy to work on, ugly as sin. Incredible Value. Easy to alter.

Love it. It's really a 1978 Pacer D/L wagon. I didn't have the choice of a Pacer, so used a Concord. Sorry for the unintended deception.

My car is ugly to the point of being charming. My car will probably outlast every contemporary "beautiful" car and will definitely come out on top in a traffic accident against most contemporary cars. Driving a new car is made to seem important by greedy car manufacturers and their ad men.

18 years old, never broke down or left my wfe or driving daughter stranded. probably less than 1000.00 in repairs in over 190,000 miles . its not fancy but sure has been a good value. excellent for what it is.....old.

If it had run for more than 6 hours, I probably would have absolutely loved it. I got it in January, finally got it to run around 1 Feb. it ran for 6 hours, jumped time, and never ran again, in spite of over 200 hours of work on it. I shouldn't complain, it was free, but I put alot of money into, trying to get it to run, but it had sat for several years before I got it, and I suspect that was the cause of all the trouble. BTW: I love listening to your show, my dad and I are do-it-yourself mechanics, and get a real kick out of listening to you guys.

It was free (given to me by my dead grandfather) and its a piece of junk but it got me around for 3.5 years.

Considering I got it for free I like it a lot. The benefit to cost ratio is fabulous. But there are little problems-see my recent email for details. Some of the questions on the survey were not answered quite right because this thing was free. My mechanic, whom I think is pretty good, is not free however. I have had expenses on the exhaust and brake systems, but that was two year ago and you asked for the previous 12 months. So there you are, and thanks. J. C. i like amc. i got this concord from a blind old lady for free, the engine runs good but it needs a new battery and fuel line. i am worried that it isn't certifiable as it has very bad underbody rust though the engine runs nice and it has good bodypanels and interior-plus a new stereo. there is a little bit of body rust on top of the fender flares and a bit of rust making the concord emblem dangle on the driver-side front fender. it is currently frozen in my aunts driveway as it is not licensed yet, and those fuel and battery fixes are taking place. well thats it, i hope that rust doesnt drop the floor out of operation: get the concord certified.

I think the wood paneling is a real eye-catcher. It badly needs a paint job, but other than that it runs pretty well, considering what it has been through. For give or take 12 years it was owned by an old lady who drove it back and forth to the supermarket everyday.
