The owner of the shop, Gary Engstrom, worked on my Subaru station wagon, Toyoto Vanogan, and Dodge Van for about 15 years. I always found him to be fair and reasonable in repairing the vehicles that I owned. He would diagnose the problem and repair it as cheaply as possible. I am quite sure that he never installed any parts that were not absolutely necessary. The repairs were done in a timely manner. I stopped going to him about 4 years ago for the following reasons. My wife's Dodge Van quit on her and when AAA came the driver diagnosed it as a broken fuel pump. When the Van was towed to Gary's shop he strongly disagreed with the diagnosis, but it turned out that's what the problem was. The large problem occurred when Gary got a license to sell used vehicles. I sold the Subaru station wagon to a private party and bought from him a used Jap. built Mazda 1986 pick up truck for $4000. I drove it for a year and was not happy with it. When I traded it in 1 year later for a 1995 U.S. built Mazda pick up I was given only $1000 in trade in. I feel that Gary really overcharged me for this truck. I no longer go to his shop for any service. Besides these 2 episodes I do still feel that he is a trustworthy and competent mechanic who performs good work and is very reasonable in his rates.

Years ago when I was car shopping, Gary went to the auction and purchased the type of car I requested at the agreed price. After 10+ years, that car suddenly broke down and was not worth the high cost to repair the transmission. I called Gary, and within a week I had purchased a car from him that I could afford. Gary and his mechanical service are highly dependable. He provides a 30-day guarantee to repair anything that is needed on the used car purchased. He is honest and I do not hesitate recommending doing business with him.
