Reviewers Comments:
Fair price for the high quality of work. Bends over backwards to make sure you know about the repair. For a large shop they manage to keep everything under control.

Rather than performing expensive repairs on my well worn car, they told me that the repairs were going to cost more than the car was worth. They're straight up and do a good job.

Sticks to his quotes like epoxy. Straight up service from straight up folks. Nine years ago a lawyer recommended Tom D as the guy to see. Its been the best free advice I have ever received.

Honest, friendly place to take your car. Saved us from making a big mistake when we were considering buying a used car - and they didn't charge us. Many of our friends use this garage and all have been happy.

I trust him to be honest, frank, and professional

pleasant to deal with, very prompt, but a little too willing to replace all four(??!) O2 sensors on our Isuzu rodeo. This repair has been cake on all my other cars, but it cost over $400 here. This reflects more on the maintainability of the !!$#??$$ Rodeo than on Dwyer's, but I have to wonder. At least they were sympathetic. I was also given a complimentary polished rock from a basket on the counter. It was so pretty, I forgot all about being broke.

Dwyer is by far the best mechanic I've ever known. Professional and courteous, they always take the time to thoroughly discuss whats going on with my auto. I never feel incompetent or stupid despite my ignorance about cars because they seem to have a genuine interest in "teaching" their customers about their autos. The best.

Tom Dwyer has aided me to avoid many lemons in pre-purchase inspections, he has talked to me...at length... about tires and other very interesting automotive things, he has helped me in a pinch, and he's a good guy besides. My whole family is loyal to his shop. His prices are not the cheapest, but he and his staff are very good. You get what you pay for. No? I've been a customer of Tom Dwyer Automotive for 10 years and have never been unhappy with service or advice. I've watched his business grow and maintain good service standards to boot.

Tom Dwyer Automotive provides a shuttle service for customers usually driven by Tom --- the owner so you can talk with the boss direct. They maintain a customer service and quality service program constantly surveying clients and publishing their opinions. They have been consistently great and I have referred many people to them. I highly recommend them.

Tom Dwyer Automotive keep has the same mechanic or mechanics do all the repairs to your car while it is in the shop so they know what work has been done and how it was done. When my wife had radiator trouble with her 95 ford taurus, we took it my mechinic on a Monday. They told us that they could finish the work by thursday. The mechanic leading the job on our car hurt his hand and couldn't finish on Thursday. So before we went in to pick it up, they called us and explained it would be another day before our car was ready and to apologize for the inconvience they wanted to give us a ten percent discount on the overall price. The price was already better than most other places we had looked at. Simply put, our mechanic runs such a clean, honest, respectful and efficient business that my wife, a medical student, wants to model her future practice on his shop.

First of all I no longer live in Portland, but I'd move back for this garage! I asked them to come with me, but alas they could not.

I couldn't stand to see that Tom had only 11 comments. He needs at least 12! There is a reason that Tom Dwyer's shop has more comments than most on this survey- his customers like to share their opinions. And Tom and his crew are very apt listeners, as well as top notch mechanics and all around great guys. I submitted a review years ago and Tom's sister mentioned that he had been noticed on the very famous Car Talk website. He figured out the comments were mine and called me promptly to thank me. That's the kind of service you get there. Tom and Bob have always given me their honest opinions including advising me to stop putting money into my 150K + mi Toyota Corolla, advising that it was just fine to get my middle aged crisis 300ZX, (and eventually pulling out a dent in the passenger door for free,) supporting me with a brief stint in a (heaven forbid,) Pathfinder and eventually servicing my more acceptable Subaru Forester. In fact, when some obscure clutch problem with the Forester occurred at about 58K mi, they made an educated guess, replaced a part and only required payment after a month of use to make sure they had finally fixed the problem. That's service that is worth the drive. They're the best!

I love these guys! A friend of mine, who was nursing along a very old Toyota, referred me to them. At the time I had a very unreliable Pontiac LeMans (no comment please). Tom Dwyer and crew never failed to figure out what the problem was and repair it. They explain all their repairs/service in laymen's terms. The staff is always courteous and friendly, and goes the extra mile for their customers (staying open past regular office hours; making arrangements for a rental car if repairs on a customer's car takes longer than estimated). They gave me great advice when I was deciding on my new car, which, by the way, I take to them for service. Give them a call!

These guys are the real deal. They are very knowledgeable, they listen to you, and they recommend the most logical and cost effective solutions to your car problems. They saved me over $300 on my Jeep Wrangler, by advising against a dealer recommended "complete window-runner replacement," as it wasn't really necessary. Glad I came across Tom Dwyer Automotive!

They might be a bit more expensive, but a good reliable
mechanic that has a pikupandropov service is worth keeping.
