Reviewers Comments:

The owner was formerly the only mechanic at the local Honda dealer who had gone through the official Honda training (at Honda's training site). But he didn't like the way the dealer dealt with customers, so he left and opened his own place. His prices are a half to two-thirds that of the Honda dealer, and he (and his staff) are better mechanics and more friendly and courteous. They even give a 10% discount to any college students or staff when you show your ID, and also 10% discount to senior citizens. They discount the standard New York State inspection fee, and only charge about $15 for an oil change. The first time I brought my car to them, the owner's wife drove me to work since a bus wasn't due to come along for a while (the bus stop is right across the street from them). They are the best mechanics to come along in a LONG time!

I was a customer at the local Honda dealer but i was refeared by several clients. So i gave autoworks a chance and i have never been happier with the quality of service, myself and now most of our family recieve at autoworks! I Feel Autoworks is the best repair facility in Ithaca NY

Overall, they are highly experienced and competent mechanics who are also honest, fair, and nice people. I highly recommend them.

The first time I went to Autoworks I was nervous because of the bad service I had received by several other shops I had been to in Ithaca. When I walked in I was treated with utmost respect and was very impressed that they took the time to explain and show me what was wrong with my car.I felt very comfortable that they were not trying to take me for a ride being that I am a women.I would recomend to go and see george and his very knowlegable staff if you have any problems with your car.You will not be dissappointed.

This is the shop I will keep coming to. Conveniently located near Cornell University campus. I usually drop off my car right after they open at 7:30 in the morning and take 8 am bus to work. Then come back on 4:45 pm bus to pick up my car before they close at 5:30 pm. They always call to inform what they found wrong with my car, give repair cost estimate. Very friendly owner and staff. Highly recommended. Two years ago when repair topped $900, the owner was sorry to present me with such high bill and took off 10% from the total without being asked for it. Only later I found that as Cornell employee I can show my staff ID and get such discount. :)

George and the staff at Autoworks are the best, most trustworthy, competent and concerned mechanics I have ever met and I have met many mechanics over the course of my time in Ithaca. I will never go anywhere else since they opened shop. I will never spend another dollar in anyone else's shop.

I've been taking my 1988 Acura to Autoworks since purchasing it two years ago. They always take the time to explain options to me and even after spending an hour trying to diagnose a problem, don't charge if they couldn't figure it out. I can trust them with my car and my pocketbook.

I started going to Autoworks when I had an old Acura & they had just recently opened. Now I have a Subaru but I still go there because of the great service. I can totally count on them to do honest work with fair pricing. As a woman, I've never felt taken advantage of in any way. The owner is on top of all of the work done in the shop & they are good at explaining necessary repair work. I've referred several people to go there & the only downside is they are busier than ever. They are very responsive in helping with repair emergencies for loyal/repeat customers. Plus, Gizmo is the sweetest cat in the world & will keep you company in the waiting area.

George and his team are wonderful. They are always courteous and take the time to explain things. Prices are very reasonable, and they do not try to sell unnecessary repairs. The one time they did not fix my car problem the first time, not only did George and his receptionist apologize sincerely, but they did the rest of the work for free. I am a woman and have only a little knowledge of car maintenance, etc, but have never felt that the guys at autoworks have talked down to me. I have been going to autoworks since just after they opened, and will continue doing so as long as I'm living in this area.

I can't believe I'm online raving about a car repair business, I don't even write online reviews at Amazon.com. But George and the rest of the gang at Autoworks are an amazing group of people. They are all extremely competent, friendly, courteous, and most of all trustworthy. They do their work right the first time. I used to be bent on always going to the Honda dealership for service, but I haven't stepped foot in a dealership since I first went to Autoworks. It's great to see a small business thrive, and it's obvious why George and his employees have flourished. Autoworks offers excellent service at the right price, and yes, with a smile!!!

These guys are great! From the first time I needed an emergency repair (I wasn't even living in Ithaca at the time and needed to drive home - they made time to quickly, effectively, and cheaply fix a broken radiator mount), to routine oil changes, Autoworks has been excellent. I was given a tour of their new facility and they have purchased state-of-the- art equipment for this shop. Both the original (now a speedy oil-change and small repairs) and new locations are located near Cornell and right on a T- CAT busline. It couldn't be easier to drop off my car and still get into work on time. Keep up the good work!

I love this shop. I have been known to put off getting a repair when living in another state so that I could bring it to these guys. I feel like they always give me honest advice. When I had a real junker of a car they would tell me things that were worth fixing and the things that weren't. I always recommend them when given a chance. I just really trust them, and when you know as little about cars as me, that's really necessary!

The guys at Autoworks are TOP-Notch. They(Shawn) dealt with a really bad warranty company for me and made a really bad experience better. Thanks guys for all your hard work, dedication and honesty!!!

The best around... give them your trust and your business, and forget chains and dealers. Save your money -- support local businesses like this one who do a knockout job quickly and cheaply.

Very friendly.

Autoworks has fast, honest and reliable service and in the car repair business, that is a rare treat. These guys know how to treat a customer, regardless of gender, and never fail to keep you informed about your car's needs and service progress. On the one instance when they were unable to finish my car's service on the same day, they gave me a large discount and a card for a free oil change. I'll never go anywhere else and I recommend that you don't either.

We have two old cars entrusted to George and his crew. They do a great job, and they have an amazing memory for cars and people. George even recalled working on one of our cars when he was at the dealership! Everyone there treats us with respect, spends the time to answer our questions, and does their best to keep costs down without compromising on safety or quality. And they go the extra mile to diagnose -- one of our problems required a 15-minute test drive up and down the neighboring hills before the stubborn car started doing what we were worried about. Definitely a 5-star shop.

I used to work in a shop and this is the best garage that I've ever dealt with. They know their vehicles; they don't do unnecessary repairs -- even repairs that they could well claim need to be completed; they are friendly and professional and their shop rate is reasonable. Unless you are driving a vehicle that demands very specific knowledge or repairs that can be completed only by a dealer with specialized equip., its hard to imagine a better general repair shop. Even though I don't live in Ithaca, I hold off completing repairs until I come to visit friends here. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I recently brought my car into Autoworks after being taken advantage of at another local shop. Shawn treated me with the utmost respect. In fact, when I needed to get back to work and my car was not ready, he let me take his car. They are always looking out for the customer and not just themselves. I trust Autoworks 100% and that is pretty amazing being a female car owner and having several bad experiences. I will never take my car anywhere else.

One of the most important things in life is having a great auto shop to go to. Well, "Autowworks" is thE place to go to for honesty, integrity, and overall complete and utter satisfaction. Their service is impeccable, repairs are explained thoroughly to even a novice, such as myself (yeah...I admit it...I'm a woman; yet, they always treated me as an equal!!) The staff is absolutely amazing, friendly, and completely trustworthy and helpful! Sean, Hillary, and George are the greatest people who go out of their way to make sure customer satisfaction is of the utmost priority. I am quite certain all of their customers feel as I do because going to Autoworks means having the peace of mind to know you're getting your money's worth and not worrying about ever being over charged! They ROCK!! I love them all!

i took my car to the new shop after being quoted a high price somewhere else. the problem i was told was nothing that was actually wrong with it. they are very quick getting your car in the shop and explain what is wrong with it. the people are always friendly, i like knowing that this place can actually remember who you are and actually call you by name. i tell everyone where i get my car fixed.

We used to get work done by a friend who is a mechanic. That was a big mistake because he worked on his schedule, not ours. We also used to go to Walters in Groton. That dealership has gone down hill immensely in the last few years. All of the good mechanics and service manager have quit. I am not treated like an idiot when go into Autoworks. If I go to a place like Monro in Cortland, all they want to do is sell me work that is not needed. That does not happen at Autoworks.

--reviewer #104510, 2007

I agree totally with the excellent evaluations above. Autoworks has my confidence. Service is unparalled. I am nearly 82 years old and have seen a great many repair shops, several of them very good; have lived and driven from coast to coast in USA and in Canada.

--reviewer #137419, 2009

the people are very friendly there. the service is also good.

--reviewer #113846, 2008

I was sold on them after the Honda Dealership in Ithaca told me I needed a new transmission to the tune of over $3,000. George diagnosed the problem (which didn't require a new transmission), fixed it and after adding a new clutch and timing belt, charged me $1,000. I think of Autoworks as the Honda repair shop of Ithaca. Thanks for your integrity, knowledge and kindness.

--reviewer #112014, 2008

Probably one of the better shops in Ithaca; they do try to catch problems early. Prices are a little high. They also failed to diagnose a failing brake caliper, causing 3 sets of pads and 2 sets of rotors to need replacement in 20k miles (for the rear brakes), but in fairness to them, it was probably in the process of failing when they saw it, and they were trying to save me some money.

Had a small part replaced here. Quick service. Great place for students, because they provide a shuttle that takes you back to campus (both IC and Cornell) and give students a 10% discount.
