Reviewers Comments:
They very honestly try to match the customers needs. Some people want the car in perfect order-they will do it for you; others want the car running but don't mind if certain things don't work perfectly-they will do the necessary repairs. They tell you that a part could fail in the future, but they let you decide whether you want to take the risk or whether you want it to be fixed right away.

I had the misfortune of returning to my car after being out
of town for several days to my car, which had been chosen as
a squirrel's final resting place. Tune craft responded to my
car problem when no one else would. I have since recommended
three grateful friends and each one has saved an enormous
amount of money. And in a couple of cases, their problem was
first misdiagnosed by another mechanic along with an
exhorbitant bill estimate. They are the best!

I take reasonably good care of my car. Meaning, I try to
get my oil changed when I should and do recommended
maintanence. So, I've been fortunate in not having a lot
of car problems, plus I drive a Saturn.
These guys never suggest treaments for my car that I don't
need, engine flushes etc (like my dealer rooked me into.)
I was told later by a good friend who knows about cars
that this was not really a requirement.
Once when my 'Check engine" light came on, I took it in to
the guys at Tune Craft and instead of giving me a big
bill, they gave me a lesson about putting my gas cap on
properly (3 clicks! No exceptions!) That solved the
problem.
They haven't screwed anything up so they've never had to
fess up to anything. I can't imagine that they wouldn't be
honest if they had.

These guys are the BEST!!!! I found them through the car
talk site and went to them because of the great reviews
from others. Let me say the other reviews were right on
the mark. I delt with Jeff the manager who is a very
kind, honest, and easy to talk to guy who really knows his
stuff. I got my transmition fluid changed with no
problems and at a great price. He also alerted me to some
other work I should consider getting done in the near
future (my car has about 150k miles on it). But there was
absolutly no pressure from him regarding further repairs.
He was simply bringing some things to my attention that my
car needs. I know a thing or two about cars, and I take
good care of my car so I know that the items he brought to
my attention were completly legit. Moreover, they didn't
try to sell me on usless crap, like other shops (oil
change places mostly) do. For the first time in my life I
have found myself a shop and mechanic I can trust!! I
would recomend them to my friends and family and would
even feel good about sending my wife to them alone.
(nothing bad about women, but some Unscrupulous places try
to take advantage of people who might not know any
better). Jeff is worth his weight in gold and this place
is great!!! << It's not listed above witht he address,
but their number is 858-270-5512 >>

I have been taking my cars to them for routine maintenance
and problem fixing for many years. They are honest and
competent. They explain problems and options, and they keep
track of your cars history so that they can spot potential
problems.
As an example, recently my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee's "check
engine light" came on and the automatic transmission started
to jerk strongly between gears. They repaired the
transmission speed sensor which had failed, but also found
the transmission fluid to be very dirty (possible metal
filings). Rather than recommend a rebuilt transmission,
they double flushed the system and purchased a special low
friction transmission fluid from the Jeep dealer to use.
Now my transmission is performing like new at a quarter of
the repair cost of a rebuilt. Of course they warned me that
this might not be a long term fix.
Ask for Shawn or Paul and tell them that you were
recommended by a very satisfied customer.

We found Tune Craft through Car Talk after many bad
experiences with chain auto stores and are thrilled with
the service. Shawn and Paul are great at explaining what
should be done and what has to be done. Shawn found my
car was burning excess oil, checked the maker's memos, and
explained the situation. He regularly tracks the oil
level for us and even offered to top off the oil for
free! We once found a nail in my tire and the guys at
Tune Craft directed me to a place that would repair my
tire for free. We always take our cars here for routine
maintenance and feel comfortable leaving our cars in such
capable hands. These guys aren't in business to rip you
off--just offer plain good service.
