Reviewers Comments:
Steve has always been very helpful with our two cars (Acura, Toyotas). On various occasions he has actually said that work that I thought might need to be done, was not needed at that time. While this cost him some immediate dollars but helped create an atmosphere of trust in the long run. The work has always been done right by Steve or Wes. The price has been fair. In the past few years, we've needed advice on what cars to buy and he has been very helpful with that as well. I highly recommend that anyone looking for a good mechanic in Silicon Valley try Steve Smith's Auto Ser

I arrived with my car in bad shape (had to have it towed). They helped me finding someone to tow it, explained me what the problem was in the first 1/2 hour, and told me what they were going to do to it. At the end of the day, I got a phone call from them and they told me that the job was done, and pointed out to me other problems that the car had. He actually told me that the car was indeed in bad condition (already knew that), but that considering the mileage it already had, any more repairs would not be worth it. Thanks Steve for a friendly and fast service!

I called one day to have wearing belts looked at. Steve didn't have an appointment available for a day or so but since I wasn't driving the car they suggested I drop it off & when they had time before the scheduled appointment they would work on it. They were able to fix the car that same day I dropped it off & fixed it right the first time. Steve took the time to show me the worn belts & explained how often the various belts & other parts needed replacing. He also gave suggestions on preventive maintenance. Can't argue with good service! They also have a garage cam where you can see your car being worked on via the internet.

I refer my friends to Steve all the time. I have never heard of anyone having a bad experience with his service. I had my mother always go to Steve after she same home with a 1200 bill and the work was not done at another shop. I got the money back, but told her to always see Steve. His prices are not cheap, but he is honest and truthful. Steve is and will always be someone I refer people to.

Steve runs a one-man shop (near as I could tell) and he's
great. Definitely strong on German cars and I saw him
working on other makes too. He's not the cheapest, but he
is good. He also will check other stuff on your car, but
there's no pressure to add on additional services. If you
just want the absolute minimum amount of stuff done for your
old jalopy, that's cool too. He's happy to explain the
repair in detail and will even drop you at work in the
morning if you work nearby.

Steve is great to work with. I've taken my 280ZX there
several times now, and he's helped me figure out what
should be done over time vs. what's really needed now. He's
always had my work done well and in short order. Each time,
he's saved my parts and showed me problem areas in the
hardware that he fixed. It's good to have a sound mechanic
who is on your side.

I have known Steve for a VERY long time. He was the only
one who I let work on my '76 Camaro. When I got my new
Blazer, I would take it to the dealer while it was under the
maintenance warranty, but when that expired, I went to Steve
for any car repairs. I will go to him when I get my next
car as well. He's friendly, honest and all around nice
guy. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who asks
about a mechanic.

Steve repaired our air conditioner problem in quick time
for a very reasonable amount ( under $300 ). It is still
working great today :)
