The first time I went to Dick's, was for an oil change. While the car was up on the rack, one of his mechanics was checking the tire pressure and found that I had a nail in one of my tires. He fixed the tire (yes, I did pay him for that); but, the fact that he did that minor inspection when all I came in for was an oil change, impressed me. My wife and I have gone back ever since.

I met Dick when I was a grad student at UCONN a couple of years ago. He not only managed to rescue my 1981 Honda accord from the scrap heap, but he compassionatly put it in good enough shape that 33,000+ miles later the thing still runs great. Dick has a couple of guys who work with/for him and he works with and tutors them like a strong tough-guy mentor. Were it not for Dick Kruescher thousands upon thousands of UCONN students would have been reduced to using public transportation in rural CT (not fun) and/or have been rooked by nefarious neer-do-wells who claim to know what they are doing at twice the price and time.

I can't be any happier. Mike solved a problem with my car that had a lot of people baffled. He spent a whole day trying to figure it out, and then had it fixed in a jiffy. He was meticulous in trying to figure the problem out, and he went through everything he tested with me. In the end, I spent a VERY reasonable amount of money getting the car fixed, considering how much time he put into it. The shop is also friendly, they don't make you feel like they're doing you a favor, they're just happy to fix your car!

I called Dick's because my car was making terrible noise. I didn't think my car would make it to his shop, and so Dick came out in his toll truck. He looked under the hood of my car, and immediately he found the problem: the fan belt assembly was broken. He told me to drive the car to his shop (less than a mile), and he would follow me. In doing so, he could save me $20. I got there, he called in for the parts, and they arrived almost immediately. I told him I had a class in four hours and wouldn't get out until after they close. Dick said they would try to get my car fixed before then. Up til this point, I was very satisfied with the service. What was totally amazing was that Dick offered to give me a ride back to campus! He said some 20 years ago, he came to a conclusion that if he got to a new place, he would want to be treated in a nice manner. So he and his help decided that they would treat people just like they would like to be treated, and this has been their philosophy ever since! Dick dropped me off right outside my building, and he said when the car was ready, he would come pick me up to pick up the car!!! Isn't he nice? I have never met a mechanic nicer than Dick! I would highly recommend Dick's Auto to all the people in the Storrs/UConn area!

Total praise for Dick and his entire staff. I have been going there for a long time and have never regretted the choice. A friendly, extreemly knowledgeable, reasonable, did I stress honest, establishment. They give even more then 110%. Every business should be this honest, pleasant, trustworthy and knowledgeable. How wonderful that would be. Dick's Auto Care is a perfect ad for the small business owner.

It's been a long time since I've had a mechanic take the time to explain [and show me!] what was wrong, AND provide options about what to do. I'll be back!
