How many 25 year old females actually don't mind taking their car in faithfully every 3000 miles for an oil change? I, for one, have always hated the idea, much less the practice of spending time at a garage. But Charlie Cantoni and Steve at SAF-T are fantastic! They are in the Who's Who of mechanics for 2000 and have won many awards. They specialize in Brakes, Alignment, shocks, struts, exhaust, lubrication, and tune-ups. They are friendly and helpful (even to stupid girls!). They take the time to show me exactly what's wrong with my car before they do any work. For instance, my tires were slipping on wet roads so I asked them to look. They showed me what a new set of tires looks like and then compared it to mine. They explained why the tires were worn out (alignment was off in the back) and procured new tires within 45 minutes. In the mean time they offered to give me a ride home or to a coffee shop and when I walked to Dunkin' Donuts instead, Charlie stopped by to pick me up so I wouldn't have to walk back in the rain. Their prices are fair, their work is great, and they are amazingly honest and helpful, even with the women! While I was there, some man came in who had moved 50 miles away but still wanted these guys to change his oil!! Also, they drove two elderly ladies home and promised to pick them up when the work was done. I actually don't mind sitting in their office to wait for my car. I know they'll have it done quickly and their incredibly nice. No mechanic has ever made me feel so comfortable before! (except when I listen to Click and Clack) I love these guys and would recommend them to anyone! Meghan Fenn

Since we moved to Cheshire 15 years ago, we have been fortuntate to have Charlie and Steve and their staff doing our car repairs. These gentlemen are experienced auto mechanics, but they take the time to explain what they do. They have kept our cars in good working order through 15 New England winters. They are honest. They give good value. They are always pleasant, and willing to work out a time for that last minute LOF when I'm in a hurry. What more can you ask? Stu

I stopped to get gas and buy a lottery ticket, but when I got back into my suv, it would not start. As I was opening the door to get out, I saw a man walking towards me. He said he noticed I was having difficulty and wanted to know if I needed some help. Almost before I could say yes, he had the hood opened and was checking things out. After grabbing a wrench and working for a few seconds, he told me to try and start the engine. It fired up immediately like it always had. One of my battery cables was loose and he explained that he just tightened up the bolt. I asked how much I owed and he said "no charge, have a nice day." That was how I first met Charlie. Since then, he and his crew have been the only ones to work on my cars. They are honest, friendly, and competent. In fact, they actually make having your car repaired fun. I didn't win the lottery that day, but I was lucky enough to have found a great garage.

Charlie Cantoni has worked on my cars for almost twenty years. Even though I now live about a half-hour's drive away, I always go to him for anything serious. I even prefer to go to him for an oil change, since he really does check for other problems. I trusted Charlie to tell me when to trade my old car in. I had it thirteen years. When it needed work that cost as much as it was worth, he said it was time. He could have done the work and made money. Instead he has my business for as long as I live around here. Steve worked for Charlie years ago and returned last year. He is always pleasant and does a great job too. I trust him as much as Charlie. When I go there, I feel like I am visiting friends, not just waiting around in an impersonal atmosphere. And let's not forget Charlie's wife Gail. She's a delight too, always kind and pleasant and easy to deal with. All three are always accommodating to me and they always explain what is needs to be done and why, and the consequences of waiting. Why would anyone go anywhere else if they live near Cheshire?

I first took my car to Steve and Charlie on the recommendation of a friend after an unnamed local shop failed to fix my car (it was overheating) after the having it in two or three times. These guys (and Gail too) are always friendly and can be counted on to tell it like it is.

I am always confident that the correct work is being done and the price will be fair.
