After my trusted mechanic of more than 22 years sold his business, desperate to find another honest and competent independent mechanic, I tried Barry's Automotive based on the covenience for me of its location and the recommendation listed here on the Mechanic-X files. To the extent two visits give me sufficient familiarity to do so, I concur with that original endorsement. By the way, Barry is the owner, but the fellow running the place day to day now is named Paul. He certainly seems to know what he is doing. He and the others at the shop have very good customer-relations skills and are straight-shooters.

My folks have dealt with Barry for a long time. In 1996 I was going to head to MN from CT and got new tires. I woke up to flat tires about 3 mornings in a row when I was supposed to leave. I finally got it to Barry who took the new tire, put it on a new rim, then rotated and balanced the 4 wheels, all for no charge, just a promise not to go to Town Fair Tire because they didn't do the needed work. I just got off the phone with them - a part fell of my car on Christmas and wasn't safe to drive so I have my mom's car. The quoted cost was just over $500. it turns out that it was half that, they found a used part and saved me lots of money. If Barry tells me I need something, I know for sure that it is necessary. He tells me when I can wait and when it must be done. I highly recommend Barry's Automotive.
