Faulty Ignition Saves Man from Car Bomb

MOSCOW (Reuters) -- A motorist was saved from a bomb blast after the ignition failed to start his booby-trapped Mercedes on Monday in southern Russia, RIA news agency reported.

After failing to get his car started, the owner called an electrician, who discovered a powerful bomb, the agency said. Explosives experts in the southern city of Makhachkala later defused the device.

Car bombs are one of the preferred methods of assassination in Russia's criminal underworld
