A Professor's Jetta Judgement
From: Glenn D. Cassidy, Ph.D.
I am a university professor and teach statistics and decision analysis, and I do survey research. I can identify all kinds of internal and external validity threats to collecting data on Jetta drivers' behavior by asking your listeners to call in with horror studies.
As a matter of fact, I was thinking about these threats just yesterday, while listening to your show on my car radio. You were reading listener mail regarding experiences with bad Jetta drivers, when much to my surprise and chagrin, at that very moment I was cut off by...drumroll please...a JETTA!
To hell with availability bias, anchoring effects, selection bias. My independent research overwhelmingly confirms your theories.
Keep up the good work.
