Recently, while listening to a local car program (when Car Talk was not on the air at the time) I heard my mechanic doling out competent advice to Mainahs. He was filling in for the regular host of the show, but doing a better job of it. Not better than "yous guys", however. One of the things that impressed me about the shop, I learned from the aforementioned radio program. It seems there are CDs that contain technical information on different makes and models of cars. Well, Intown Tuneup has joined the computer age and subscribes to these CDs from the different manufacturers. According to Peter, GM information is contained on 6 discs! That would be more than 100,000 pages of text. I am happy that Intown Tuneup uses these database-type CDs. Another thing I like about Intown Tuneup is that none of the mechanics there own a boat.

I have been a customer at this shop for almost 18 years. These guys always go the extra mile. I think they have saved me hundreds of dollars over the years--they keep an eye out for things that I need to know about to save me money in the long run. They've kept three cars on the road for me well over 100,000 miles each. When my local Jiffy Lube tells me all the stuff I need to do, I just take their recommendations to my mechanic and he usually says, "you don't need to do that!" As a woman, I appreciate that they never talk down to me--in fact the owner usually takes me into the garage to explain what he's done and why. Once, my only complaint in 18 years (jokingly)was that they didn't vacuum my car the way the local oil change franchises did. When I stopped by to pick up the car, they had vacuumed it not to be outdone (but only that once!). Finally, they're just a lot of fun.
