About That Puddle You're In
Submitted by Alicia Robertson

My mother and I were on our way from our home in Pennsylvania to visit my grandfather in the hospital in Illinois. We were in a hurry and it was raining. We had the radio turned on when suddenly the noise the car was making on the road increased. Lo and behold, we had blown a tire.

Now, my mom is one of those people who really has to "go" when they say they have to "go." Well, of course there were no restrooms around, so since the car was already pulled over, she just opened the front and back doors on the passenger side and "went" right beside the car between the doors.

In the meantime, a trucker had pulled over to help us change our tire. He just went about his business, while mom and I were discussing the remainder of our trip. Before I could say anything, he was laying on the ground by the car putting the jack under the car to prop it up to change the tire. Now, I'm sure you can guess where he was laying. Yep, right where mom had just finished doing her business. He couldn't tell there was an unusual puddle on the ground because all of the ground was wet due to the rain. And, what do you say to someone who is helping you in the middle of nowhere? "Hey, that's not a puddle of water you're laying in!" Yeah, I didn't know what to say either, so I didn't say anything.

We thanked him heartily and pulled away, laughing so hard Mom almost peed her pants. Certainly a horror story, but probably only his after his truck heated up enough for him to begin wondering about the smell.
