Since its beginning last year, the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program has distributed 1.5 million dollars to local NPR stations!

That's tens of thousands of donated vehicles, not counting the $23 we got for Tommy's seven cars.

But... what kind of deranged NPR listener would actually donate a perfectly good car to support his or her local public radio station? Well, a listener like Peggy Johnson of Wonalancet, New Hampshire, would.

Car Talk spoke with Peggy about parting with her dearly beloved '96 Chevy Blazer, whether the IRS has since threatened to toss her sorry tuchus into prison — and if that smug smile on her face has anything to do with her recent donation.
