As many of you know, we've been harping for some time now on the dangers of yakking on your cell phone while you drive. You don't have to be Albert Einstein to realize that if you're talking on the phone, you're not paying attention to the road. There are lots of statistics to prove this point. We won't belabor you with them here. It's easy to forget, however, that behind those numbers there are real people. Many of you have heard of Patti and Rob Pena. Last November, the loss of their two-year-old child, Morgan, made national headlines. A driver talking on his cell phone sped through a stop sign, killing the child as she sat, buckled in her car seat. The driver was fined $50 and got two traffic tickets. Since then, Patti Pena has become perhaps the leading authority on the dangers of driving and talking. She's been a tireless campaigner for education and legislation. Recently Patti wrote a letter for the Car Talk Web site. It explains the hazards of driving and talking better than a desk full of studies and reports. In doing so, we hope it encourages you to take action in your community. Sincerely,
