Every once in a while, a truly brilliant idea comes along. The wheel. Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Cannoli. Cold fusion. You get the idea.

Well, we've just stumbled upon just such a moment in the history of automotive transportation: The Good News Garage, in Burlington, Vermont and Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

"What's so special about a bunch of wrench-spinning schmoes," you ask? Here's what: The Good News Garage fixes cars... then gives them away.

Not a good business plan, we know. And, no, you can't have one of their cars. Unless you need one, that is. You see, the Good News Garage receives donated cars, transforms them into reliable transportation, and gives them to folks who need a car, but can't afford to shell out the dineros. Folks who have a job... but can't get to work. And, they've been remarkably successful, helping people get back on their feet and get to work, so they can get a paycheck and keep paying their bills.

We think it's a phenomenally smart, generous and simple idea.

And, we hope that by endorsing them, we're not going to send prospective donors fleeing away in a panic. In fact, we're hoping you might actually get inspired to give them a hand. There are lots of ways you can help. We hope you'll take a few minutes out of your day to read something that can actually help somebody... as opposed to the other stuff here on our lousy little web site.
